📌 Stirling, Scotland, UK
Brad managed to convince me to take this little stop, and I have not been regretting it so far.
We were sitting at the corner of a bakery near the record store where we came from, waiting for the red velvet cupcake I ordered for Oslo, who loved them. Brad was finishing his tiramisu along with his milkshake, which was topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and marshmallows. I, on the other hand, was trying to compose a handwritten sorry note for my brother, after eating a blueberry cheesecake with iced coffee.
"I'm running out of words, so, inspire me. How did you and Connor meet? He said that he was in a band. Are you one of them?"
"Oh, I'm not a member of Sunset Skyline. I am, however, one of the people who produced their breakout single. I work as a freelance producer, so, I'm not really tied down to people, but when Connor asked for my help to look for a replacement singer for his brother's wedding because the original one quit, I stepped up, since I was here in Scotland when he called me, anyway."
"Wow. So, you weren't supposed to be the singer, in the first place? You could've been spared from that horrible wine stain that ruined your shirt."
"Yeah. They changed last minute because the bride was so annoyed at him, so then Connor said that I was a professional singer who took up music in university blah blah even though it wasn't true, and, well, she was impressed, and I got the gig. They gave me a day to study the song, then we rehearsed. The first time you and I ever saw each other was the third time I rehearsed with them, actually."
"Yet you managed to give a breathtaking performance the whole crowd will never forget. You're a natural, Brad. Don't let anyone's actions or expectations tell you otherwise."
"Thank you, Cai. That's very kind of you," Brad said, then I finalized my sorry note upon realizing that 'kind' was the word I was looking for to finish the poem.
"What do you think? It's for my brother. We had a falling out, and I want to apologize to him for being insensitive. I also want to tell him that I'm ready to listen to him whenever he needs or wants to be heard," I asked Brad, who read the entire note, then he looked astounded after doing so.
"I'm blown away by how good this is; are you a poet or something like that?"
"Hmm, not really. I mean, I want to be a writer like my dad, but I'm studying Accountancy, so I don't think I can be considered as some poet."
"I see. My opinion still stands, however; that's well-written and it accurately captures your emotions, like how sorry you actually are. It's amazing, and you're very talented."
"Thank you. It's honestly the least I can do."
"Forgive me for asking, but, how important is your brother in your life? Like, I've only seen how your sister treats you; does he do the same?"
