After a long, exhausting day, Brad and I found ourselves playing random card games on his bed after having dinner and some Red Bull, which was a mistake since that meant that we were wide awake at 1 AM in the morning.

"Have you ever played 'Who's the Monkey' before? It's more fun than Go Fish. Maybe we can play that before we sleep?" I asked Brad, who shrugged as he shuffled the deck of cards.

"No, but I'm excited to know why it's more fun than Go Fish," Brad replied, then he gave me the deck so I could introduce the game to him.

"So, you first divide the cards into two stacks," I said, then Brad did what I told him.

"Then we get this card at the top of the second stack and hide it. We both should not know what is behind it, okay?" I said, then Brad nodded his head before I hid the card under his pillow.

"After this, we get 14 cards each, then we put down the cards that have the same number. We can only put down two cards at a time, so, you better make it count," I said as I distributed the cards between us, then Brad nodded his head. I put the unused cards on top of the second stack, then Brad and I lifted our cards up to our faces so we could put the pairs down. In the end, I had 8 cards left while Brad had 9.

"Since I have less cards than you, I get to pick from your cards first. If nothing matches, I'll draw from the unused deck. If any of us runs out of cards, we'll distribute the unused stack between each other," I said, then Brad put his cards near me so I could reach. After pulling out a card, I located its pair and put it down, then it was Brad's turn to pick from my cards.

"Have you thought about your seeker story yet?" Brad asked before choosing from my cards, then I sighed. Apparently, a seeker story, according to Brad, is something you have been trying to chase for quite a while now, but it seems to be flying further away every time you make an attempt to chase it. After telling Brad that I needed time to think before I could answer his question, we went to our hotel room and had dinner at the nearest convenience store, where we bought the energy drinks so we could do work: Brad sorted out the demos a client of his ordered from him while I handled our expenses and booked our next room.

"Fuck," Brad muttered to himself as he picked a card from the unused deck. I chuckled in amusement, to which he replied with a small head shake.

"Does this mean I'm the monkey?"

"Not really, Brad. There's still an chance that the pairs of your cards are in the deck."

"Hmm. Fair point."

Brad put his cards closer to me so I could reach them, then I picked a card from the unused deck since the card I chose didn't match any of my cards. This caused Brad, the competitive little demon, to smirk at me, then I smiled.

"I'm still thinking about my seeker story, by the way. I hope you don't mind."

"Not at all, Cai. If you want, I can share my story first. I don't mind."
