When we were off of the main roads and were less likely to get caught by police, I offered to drive since Brad was getting tired, and we thought that we'll be quicker at room hunting if one of us will inquire while the other waits in the car, ready to drive off to the next place if there was no room vacancy.

I was in the middle of checking out cheap places that we could rent on Brad's phone when the passenger's door opened, then Brad climbed in and quickly folded the wet umbrella he had before putting it on the floor.

"No luck?" I asked Brad, who nodded his head.

"Receptionist doesn't know a place we can afford which isn't fully booked, as well," Brad said as he put his seatbelt on, then I browsed through the dodgy reviews of the best place we could afford as he wiped the raindrops off of his glasses.

"I can't find a room that is close to our standards. Maybe we can stop the room hunting for now? We still haven't eaten anything, and, who knows, a room may be available after we eat?"

"Sure. Can we have something warm, please? It's bloody freezing out there," Brad said, then I chuckled before looking up a nearby ramen shop, seeing that, with the cold, pouring rain outside, it only made sense to have some hot soup with ingredients that could fill our bellies.

Ordering didn't take long since we decided to go for the bestseller, and after waiting for a bit, our food was served, my mouth watering as the scent of miso soup filled my nostrils, almost completely forgetting about the problem we had in hand.

"I don't think we'll be able to get a room tonight," I honestly told Brad, who sorted out the chopsticks he will use.

"The closest we got to a room is the car itself, but don't get any ideas," Brad joked, but I had an idea anyway.

"Maybe we can sleep there tonight?" I asked Brad, who looked at me in disapproval.

"I have two blankets for when the night gets really cold, which means I have a blanket to spare, but I don't have a spare pillow. We can make a makeshift pillow with our dirty clothes, which are due for washing tomorrow, might I add, but it might stink the next morning."

"I can sleep without a pillow. Also, we can recline the seats all the way back, right? Then we can just lie down?"

"Yes, but...sleeping without a pillow? That doesn't sound very comfortable now, does it?"

"I mean, with that logic, sleeping in a car isn't also comfortable, but it's the only choice we have."

"Fair point."

I shrugged to confirm that I won the argument, but I could see that Brad was still unconvinced about the idea. Honestly, if I were him, I would be, too, considering that after having a long day, the least Brad can have is a comfortable bed to sleep on.
