"Someone looks a little lost. You're not welcome here," Victoria said to Brad, who nodded his head.

"I was just dropping Cairo off out of courtesy. I don't want her father thinking that she's in danger or anything."

"After shagging her? That's sweet of you," Sofia said, which surprised me.

"And from where are you getting that conclusion?"

"Your hair is all over the place. Only plausible reason for that is sex, really."

"I'm sorry, but I never shagged her. What happened was that before we went here, she returned my beanie, which she was wearing all day, to me, and she was unable to fix her hair. Stop drawing false conclusions from surface-level accusations," Brad said, then Sofia rolled her eyes.

"He's defensive. I'm definitely correct, as usual."

"No, you're incorrect and over-the-top judgemental. Take whichever is worse for your inflated ego," I quickly defended Brad, then Sofia's eyes bulged out of her sockets as she removed her earphones, which were blasting Psycho by Red Velvet.

The foreshadowing is real.

"Okay, Cairo, that was way too harsh. At least Sofia has a valid basis; what about you? What else could've made you arrive home this late? How sure are we that you are not lying?" Victoria asked, then I shrugged.

"Touring around Glasgow doesn't take one hour, Victoria. Plus, there was traffic on the way home. We already explained to Dad what happened and he knows that I was coming home late."

"You explained what really happened, or what you want us to believe that happened?"

I rolled my eyes and turned to Brad, who looked more sad than mad.

"Anyway, thank you for dropping me off, Brad. I had a really nice day," I told Brad, who sighed.

"I can't leave you, Cai. Not when you're telling the truth but they're making it seem like you aren't. That's not what family does," Brad said, then I heard Sofia chuckle.

"She doesn't even consider Victoria as family, which is a shame. To add some salt to that, the V-person she considers as family is literally a skank."

"Don't fucking talk about Vi that way when you have no idea who she is and what she has done to help Papa and I," I pointed at Sofia, who shrugged as she put her earphones back on.

"Am I the one who really needs to know her, though?" Sofia said before completely immersing herself in the song.

"Is she suggesting that I don't know my own guardian?" I asked Victoria, who chuckled as she rolled her eyes.

"Finally! After so long, she finally figured it out herself. A little too slowly, though, I might add, so maybe don't be stupid next time, Cairo?"

"Enough. She asked you a serious question," Brad said, his voice bouncing back from the entryway walls with a boom as he expressed his impatience towards the situation in a way that everyone, even I, who has seen nothing but the good side of him so far, trembled from head to toe in fear.
