When Brad finished his set by the beach, he was immediately greeted by a warm round of applause from the audience, even from me, who still felt awkward about what happened last night.
To me, our kiss last night was just accidental and friendly. We went on a friendly date, we were too happy about the reply, Brad replied to the email and took the offers, then we kissed by accident. It's not like it was a big deal.
So why the fuck am I treating it like a big deal?
Our relationship, which is nothing but a deeply close friendship, remained normal from a general perspective. After the kiss, we shared a chuckle, figured that we were tired from the date, then we wished each other good night. The next morning, we packed up our stuff, arranged our next accommodation, which Tristan E promised to take care for us, and went to the beach for today's busking session before going on the road again.
Fine. Maybe staying up for an hour because of thinking about the kiss was not normal for me.
I doubt Brad did the same, however. While I looked up at the ceiling last night, Brad stayed still on his bed, his chest rising up and down in a steady rhythm. He probably thought that we were just friends who kissed by accident due to tiredness, and that's what I should also think. Plus, he did say that he was still in love with someone else, and some people can argue that friends can have friendly kisses, but I haven't really kissed much people, never mind my friends, making me new to this strange feeling. By how things were going, Brad and I's friendship was going so well that I just don't want anything, especially that kiss, to ruin it, which was probably why I stayed up so long just thinking about it.
Before I could even register what was happening, we arrived at the place where we agreed to meet Tristan E at 8 PM.
"We're 15 minutes early. That's a change from all the times when I've been late," Brad joked, then I laughed before he turned the engine off, then he checked his phone again for any updates.
"Are you feeling nervous?"
"As a matter of fact, I am. This is my first major deal, or at least my first collaboration with someone major in the music industry. It's just...I don't want to screw things up, you know? I am already barely advancing in my career; I think the least I want is to have a big drop from where I am now."
"You've got a point. But, you also have to remember that you're phenomenal. Every crowd you would gather whenever you're busking always seems to be very impressed with your craft, so give yourself credit. Plus, you're the one who reached out to this DJ, and he liked your work enough to invite you and write this song together. In my honest opinion, this already is an advance in your career."
"You're right. Thank you for that," Brad said, then I smiled in return. He then proceeded to browse through his phone, and when we were ready, we climbed out and went inside the small hotel, which looked completely empty.
