I sat in the lounge, a creepy silence filling the room, the clock echoing with every tick.

I stretched myself out across the sofa, running my hand through my hair as I did so.

"Still can't sleep?" Jake said walking into the room.

"No" I sighed, slightly agitated.

"What was the nightmare about?" He asked sitting on the edge of the sofa.

How did he know I had a nightmare?

"What are you talking about?" I asked frowning "I didn't have a nightmare, that's kid stuff" I added, rolling my eyes. Trying to play it cool

"You don't have to pretend...I know I'm not your brother.....but I'm the closest thing you've got to one.....I'm here for you....Always" he said softly, looking over at me.

"I know" I said in almost whisper, nodding my head

"I'm sorry....." he said out of nowhere

"For what?" I asked raising my eyebrow

"Just in general" he shrugged, the look of sorrow in his eyes

"I'm not an injured dog jake, I don't need people to feel sorry for me" I snapped slightly

"I never said you did. I'm just saying I do." He defended

"Yeah well don't" I shot back, crossing my arms over my chest as I walked out the room.

"Come back" he called after me, following me into the kitchen.

"Why?" I questioned, crossing my arms as I leant against the counter top

"Because..." he started, frowning slightly as he thought of an answer.

"Times up" I said sarcastically, pushing myself off the counter and walking away.

"Lauren!" He called after me, letting out a sigh "Where are you going you going?" He added

"To have a shower! Is that ok with you?!" I said snapping slightly, as I walked up the stairs

"We'll talk about this later" He called after me, trying to take control.

"Yeah, I don't think we will" I called back, running my hand through my hair
