I stared at the warehouse for a few more minuets, internally debating weather to go in or not. I sighed pushing myself off the wall, I can't go in there.....not after what he did.
I turned on my heel and decided to go back home.
I ran my hand through my hair as I walked up my porch, pulling my keys out my pocket, unlocking the door and shutting it behind me.
I threw my keys on the tabled beside me, before walking into the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Where have you been?" Jake asked from behind me.
"Fucking hell Jake!" I snapped turning around quickly "you scared the shit out of me!" I added frowning.
"What's wrong with you?" He asked frowning.
"Nothing" I said shaking my head.
"You went to the meeting, didn't you?" He asked looking over at me, with a sigh.
"I didn't go in" I defended, taking a sip of water.
"I thought you didn't want to go?" He questioned frowning.
"I don't." I said, interrupting him
"Then why did..." he started
"I don't know jake!" I snapped
"I just wanted to see what was so important...that I wasn't worth it all those years ago" I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Lauren..." he trailed off, sadness evident in his eyes
"Don't ok" I snapped, pushing past him
"Would you stop!" He ordered, matching my tone.
"Stop what!" I spat turning to face him.
"This act!" He said raising his voice slightly.
"What act!?" I yelled, getting increasingly pissed off.
"The one where you pretend you don't care about anyone...." he started frowning
"I dont" I said, cutting him off.
"you do! I know you do! You act like nothing hurts you anymore! Like nothing matters. You don't even see that what your doing is killing you!" He Yelled
"I am the way I am because I have to be! I will never let anyone hurt me ever again! Everything I am is because of him! Because of what he did!" I yelled
His face softened instantly
"Lauren....." he said, looking guilty
"I'm going to bed" I snapped, storming up stairs.
