Clary's POV:

The mysterious blonde boy then says
"You can see me?"

I was taken aback by this comment because yes of course I can see him he's standing right in front of me? Unless I'm going crazy.

"Yeah of course I can see you" I say back hoping I'm not crazy.

He stares at me for a second. Completely speechless. His eyes draw me in. I don't know why this boy is so interesting.
He then turns and walks out of the school. In a pretty big hurry too. I stare at the empty door for a minute. I want to go back to ocean to tell her about this dude. But the other part wants to run after him. I grasp the door and run out the back the way I saw him run. He's in the ally? Weird for a guy with no one with him.

I yell "HEY"

He ignores me. This angered me so I yell louder.

"HEY IM TALKING TO YOU"

This seems to make him finally stop. I catch up with him as he slowly turns around. I feeling of safe rushes over me. I must know this guy from somewhere. It's killing me inside to not remember. So I ask

"Don't I know you? From somewhere?"

He still looks lost and sad. He's contemplating his answers carefully though. Meaning he does and should know something.

He responds back with "no, no I don't think so"

I'm really mad at this point with him lying or not knowing so I cut him off.

"No I do, I definitely do"

He stares at me still acting lost. But then this feeling comes over me. The drawing. The drawing I drew. this is the boy. Jace? Its probably not his name but I have to say something before he leaves.

So I desperately say "jace?"

He raises his eyebrow and cracks a side smile. Did I really know his name?

He responds back before I can ask internal questions. "Yeah, yeah I'm jace" he says with a smile.

I feel the strong urge to introduce myself since I just guessed a strangers name and acted like I knew him. Even though it felt like I have known him for years.

"I- I'm clary" I manage to say with a chuckle

He chuckles back and is still smiling. But then something catches my eye. His neck. The tattoos. That's the same one I drew. I reach out before stopping myself.

"What are these tattoos on your neck?" I say.

He pulls away but I move my hand toward it. I move his neck collar and trace the tattoo with my finger. As soon as I touch it something inside me clicks.

I think to myself. "This isn't a tattoo.. it's a rune-"

As soon as I said that to myself a rush of things came back to me. All at once the good and the bad memories came back my head felt like it was going to explode. And then darkness fell.

Jace POV:

The one question I can think to ask is

"You can see me?"

She looks taken aback by the question and answers with a

"Of course I can see you"

I stare at her blankly. I cant believe she remembers. Her sight is back. Even if she doesn't remember she can see me.
But then memories come back. I shouldn't be talking to her. I cant put her in the danger of the shadow world since she's still mundane. I walk/run out of the school. I just turn to the nearest way home. I end up in an ally behind the school. I m walking as fast as I can when suddenly I hear Clary behind me.

She yells "HEY"

I ignore her. Maybe if I ignore her and walk she will go back to the school. I walk faster but she yells again

"HEY IM TALKING TO YOU"

She seems angry so I turn around. I still love clary and cant bear to see her upset. I have a cover story I'll use. She won't know about the shadow world. At least not from me.

She asks " don't I know you from somewhere"

At this point my mind can't think of my cover story and all it decides to say is

"No, no i don't think so."

Dammit that's a dead give away. I mean I don't know what if trying to hide because she doesn't remember the shadow world. But im still digging a deeper hole for myself.

She cuts me off immediately after I speak.

"No I do, I definitely do" she says with hope and confusion in her voice.

I stare blankly. Hoping she will just go away so I can figure out why she can see me. I go to turn away when I hear her say desperately,

"Jace?"

I turn around. She knows my name. I'm so happy in that moment I just say.

"Yeah,yeah I'm jace"

I'm smiling. She's smiling and then she introduces herself.

"I- I'm clary" she says with a smirk.

I'm just happy she remembered my name at this point. I go to tell her my cover story of how I have to go home to my mom and my foster family but she looks at my neck.

"Shoot, I didn't cover my runes" I thought to myself

She reaches out to touch my neck but i pull away.
She then asks

"What are those tattoos on your neck"

I have the strong urge to correct her and say runes but I don't. That's a dead giveaway. She reaches my neck with her hands and traces my rune. As she's doing it her touch feels warm on my skin. This is the closest clary had gotten to me in a year.

She then gets this look on her face. She looks like she's remembering things. A lot at once. I watch her wince and crouch on the ground. I quickly crouch at her side and hold her hand to steady her. She looks up and then her eyes roll back in her head. I catch her mid faint and feel her pulse. It's there. But weak.
My heart is racing. I'm so scared in that moment I had killed clary. I wasn't supposed to be seeing her. She wasn't supposed to see me. I swiped clary up from the concrete and ran back to the institute. I burst open the doors and yell for Izzy and Alec. Alec comes first and looks like he's about to murder me

"JACE WHAT THE HELL, HOW IS SHE HERE."
Alec yells loudly

I'm pretty sure the whole institute heard him because there was a large crowd starting to form

Izzy runs in and pushes Alec and the crowd out of the way

"By the angel- GET A MEDIC AND PREP THE INFIRMARY!" she screams.

So many people scurry around me. They pick up clary and put her on a stretcher. I'm by her side the whole time. They rush her to the infirmary where the stick IVs and fluids into her. While Izzy is out of the room getting more antibiotics the unthinkable happens. A rune appears. One singular rune. It's her angelic rune. And more runes after that start to appear. Slowly covering her skin until she's almost fully runed. I cant believe what I'm seeing so I call Izzy.

"Jace? How the hell is she getting her runes back. Did you put those there!" She states firmly.

"NO IZZY LOOK!" I say in almost a yelling voice.

I point to her runes reappearing and then one appears on her shoulder. Her iratze. I grab my stele and run it along the rune several times. It should help if she's still a shadowhunter. The heart monitor gets more steady and her vitals we're almost completely normal. I let out a single tear. I almost have her back. Then I see her eyes flutter open. She turns her head and looks at me with her groggy eyes.

"Jace?" She whispers

I'm at the verge of tears when she says that.

I have my clary back.
