NOAH
♥
You were a dream.
Something that I held onto when I was fast asleep but disappeared once I was awake.
I kept you at a distance, only gave you the smallest parts of myself that would satiate your curiosity. You held onto those parts of me, cherished them. They meant everything to you because you thought they were me, but I wasn't honest with you and for that, I am sorry Serenity.
You gave me your body and your soul and I worshiped it, worshipped you.
Where do I start Serenity?
...
Serenity Taylor was a distraction.
From the moment I met her, I knew she'd be trouble. She walked into my office with her head held high, crossing her legs elegantly once she was seated. She was stunning, indifference was a specialty of mine but I couldn't pretend not to notice that.
It didn't help that she was also my type. She had dark hair and even darker eyes with a body that was crafted especially for her. She was alluring. Her voice, her demeanor, the way she carried herself. Her looks however were nothing compared to her intelligence, which was exactly why I gave her the job.
Normally, I would've looked past a woman like Serenity Taylor when it came to business. The job that I was asking her to do wasn't just fetching me my morning coffee. She had access to intimate parts of my life and business, sometimes I had her head a meeting in my absence. I needed someone I could depend on, someone who would rip another limb from limb if they had to. She did the job well but on paper, you would have never guessed. As I said, she was intelligent beyond belief but it wasn't enough for my office.
Most of the men that hired her in the past probably looked past that fact. They gave her the job to simply watch how good she looked with her back turned. I however, knew everything about her before she graced my office with her presence.
She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Taylor, co-owners of hotels entitled The Briar. They were luxury hotels with excellent ratings, but that's what happened when you ran a tight ship. Charles and Mary were feared in the business world and I admired them, so of course, I'd take an interest in their daughter.
She grew up around business, she knew it like the back of her hand although she left that off her resume. She didn't like to throw her parent's names around to get special treatment unlike most people in our world. That showed me that silver spoon aside, she wanted to make a name for herself outside of her parents.
I was willing to give her that chance attraction aside, but it just got too complicated.
Believe me, I was a man of professionalism, I wouldn't let my urges stop me from doing my job correctly. But something about her enticed me in a way I couldn't ignore. Serenity was a woman who liked to play word games, some days I found it trying not to feed into them. She flirted but it was subtle, she never crossed that line. It was a game that we both silently played because if one of us spoke it aloud, it would be game over.
In many ways, it wouldn't be fair of me to engage in any kind of relationship with Serenity Taylor. The main reason being that it was strictly against the rules. Quite honestly I couldn't give two fucks about who my employees screwed, it wasn't my business. The board pushed for the no office romance arrangement and I chose not to argue, no sense in making them, my enemies.
