"No absolutely not, Jane tell her I'm not doing that."

"She said she's not doing that," Jane shrugged and turned back to her pager.

"Serenity, it's just a suggestion. People want to hear more about your life, it'll be good for sales and your image." Vanessa was tapping her nails on the desk impatiently. She had been hounding me for months now about the contents of my next book but she wasn't my editor; she was my publicist. I wouldn't let her bully me into my next project no matter how much I loved her.

"Noah was great with my first book but I don't think he'd appreciate another book written about him and our sex life. Or our fights. Which we've rarely had these days might I add."

Vanessa rolled her eyes and twisted her ring around her finger, "no one said it had to be erotic!"

"I'm sorry Ness it's still a no. What I wrote—I'm in a different place. I was in my feelings and I just started writing about everything, everyone. I want to do something different this time around."

She sighed which meant she was giving up. I always encouraged my friends to persevere but she was misplacing her efforts.

"Fine! Write whatever you want!"

I smiled, "I was going to do that anyway thank you, Nessy."

I grabbed my belongings and kissed her and Jane on the cheek before leaving. Noah and I had dinner plans and I needed at least four hours to get ready. My nails needed to be done along with my toes and my hair. Noah, like the angel he was had three dresses for me to pick from which would take at least thirty minutes but I appreciated it nonetheless.

I parked my car beside his in the driveway and carefully made my way past the rubble. We hadn't moved yet, weren't planning to anytime soon but I got the feeling Noah was working on something behind my back. He had been asking me a bunch of renovation and décor questions recently but he'd done nothing to our current house. He definitely had something up his sleeve.

"Noah!?" I called out while kicking my heels off. The mess in me wanted to leave them in the middle of the hall but Noah would've had my head. I picked up our puppy Zen and made my way upstairs with the heels in my other hand. Noah was in the bedroom mirror sorting through ties, his hair wet and sweats hanging off his hips.

Dreamy as always, but you knew that.

I sat Zen down and he ran to his bed in the corner of our room. I quickly washed my hands before approaching Noah because he was slightly allergic to dogs. He went even crazier with the cleaning but I didn't fuss. He compromised, so would I.

"I think you should go with the blue," I kissed his back before standing beside him. He smelled amazing but that was no surprise, the man wasn't human after all. Couldn't be.

"I was thinking the same thing," he lifted my chin and kissed me before asking, "how was your day?"

"Aggravating. Vanessa and half of Seattle want a part two to my first book but I want to move in a different direction."

He hummed and put the losing tie back in his drawer, "go with what you think is best baby."

"That's what I said! She just doesn't get it, I think ever since she had Hope she thinks everyone has to take her word as the final say."
