There was no time to be wasted. I had Tom arrange a meeting with Summers at a place of my choosing. He had no idea he was being set up or that I knew about his involvement with Giselle. Even if he did there was nothing he could do about it. I had him right where I wanted him. All that was left to do was pull the trigger.
I pulled up to Roasted and parked my car ignoring the meter like I always did. This was my comfort coffee shop and if I was going to play this role well I had to do it someplace that made me feel safe.
The bell rang when I opened the door and the two men glanced at me. I took off my sunglasses and popped them in my purse ordering my usual from Corrine before sitting down.
"What's she doing here?" Summers spat.
I picked at my nails and took a sip of my drink. Summers was getting impatient but he was on my time, he could wait a few seconds.
"What is she doing here!?" He was getting quite loud. How embarrassing.
"Shhh, you're making a scene. I thought old people were supposed to preach patience, hm?" He scowled at me and crossed his arms.
"Ugh, whatever. I have plans after this so I'd like to get this over with as soon as possible."
"What are you talking about? Get what over with?"
I sighed and tapped my nails on the table, I wondered how bad it would hurt if I swiped them across his face. The scars allowing him to remember me for the rest of his life.
"You know I've met a lot of men like you Summers. Men who can only get it up for five seconds and men who aren't as smart as they think they are."
"I'm not going to sit here and listen to this!" He tried to stand up but Tom placed a hand on his shoulder and sat him back down.
"Here's what I think happened Nigel. I think you wanted Ivy but you couldn't take it by yourself. First I'd like to say it was really fucking stupid of you to work with a man like Dominic Bullion. A man whose sexual urges surpassed any type of loyalty he had to you. You let your boy off his leash and he got greedy. Is that why you put in the go-ahead for that article was it spite that made you add my name to it?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
I smiled and continued, "and I can't believe I didn't see it before I mean I had no idea how Bullion knew where Noah and I were that night but it was you. You knew about Ivy's collaboration and you sent him there to threaten me. But again, he got greedy and he roughed me up a little more than you anticipated."
I could see it on him now. The anxiety. He shifted in his seat and his eyes darted all around the coffee shop. It was pathetic how easy it was to rattle him.
"Once bullion's well ran dry you went to the only person that hated me more than you hated Noah because you knew getting me out the way was your quickest way to getting rid of him. I don't know what's worse, you for coming up with the plan or his mother for agreeing but I digress."
"Wait!" He pleaded but I wasn't finished.
"Having her send in Sunny Chamberlain, that was smart but Noah isn't one for messes. He likes to handle things privately, I mean I never even had to meet the bitch that's how quietly he handled it. But making his mother record private conversations to use against him? Well, that's just low."
