"I'm l-l-leaving now!" Bill yelled to his mother.
"Wait!" She ran up to him and gave him a huge hug "Make sure to have fun"
    "Mom!" Bill whined.
"What? You're too grown to be hugged by your loving mother?" She asked.
"I'm g-g-gonna be late." Bill told her.
"Fine, you can head out." She surrendered "but make sure to be safe! And call me if there's any trouble. And try to make friends."
"I have fr-fr-friends mom." Bill said.
"Yeah, but you can always make more! Some of my best memories are being a camp counsellor in Michigan. Have I told you about when-" She started.
"I n-need to go." Bill cut her off, knowing she was about to launch into one of her drawn out camp stories.
"Okay." She gave him one last pat on the back "You can go now."
    "Bye mom"
    "Bye Bill"
He grabbed his bag and shut the door behind him. He was strangely excited. Camp sounded fun, he would get to meet new people, and spend time with people he knew. Like Beverly. Beverly was really fun to hang out with. For some reason, his parents thought they were dating. As if! Beverly was just a good friend, Bill felt nothing romantic towards her. Nothing romantic towards any girls really. Guess he just hadn't found the right one yet.
"HEY" Bill groaned as he heard a familiar yell.
"Wuh-wuh-what do you want Bowers?" Bill asked.
"I wuh-wuh-want" Bowers mocked "for you to give me whatever's in the bag."
"I c-can't. I need it for c-camp." Bill told him.
"Camp? What fucking camp?" He asked.
"Camp Eagle Eye." Bill said "It's close to New Ha-Ha-Ha-Hampshire."
"No fucking way!" Bowers laughed "I'm a counsellor there till August!"
No, no, no, no, no, no!!! Fuck no!! Bill cursed inside his head.
"Can't wait to see you there Buh-Buh-Buh-Bill." Bowers grinned, as if it was a funny joke, and took off on his bike.
Bill sunk down onto the sidewalk. His excitement was gone. Now he dreaded having to go to camp.
"Hey!" This yell was also familiar, but he didn't groan hearing it, he was glad to hear it.
    "Beverly!" He smiled.
"Hey Billy boy!" She returned the smile. "Why are you on the ground."
Bill awkwardly stood back up.
    "It's n-nothing."
"Um okay." She looked suspicious, but ultimately let it go "Are you excited for camp?"
    "I wuh-wuh-was." He frowned "I found out B-B-Bowers is a fucking counsellor."
"No fucking way!" Her smile dropped "Must be like community service or some shit because there's no way that asshole is volunteering out of the goodness of his heart."
    "Yeah it's wuh-wuh-weird." Bill chuckled.
"But we shouldn't let stupid Bowers ruin our perfect summer." Her smile popped back onto her face "Promise you'll hang out with me?" She stuck out her pinky.
"Promise." Bill interlocked his pinky with hers.
"We gotta go if we're going to catch the bus." Beverly checked her watch.
"We're pr-pr-practically late." Bill looked down at his own watch "wuh-wuh-wanna sit together?"
"I know this is ironic because we literally just promised to hang out together, but I already told Ben I'd sit with him." Beverly said.
"Oh that's f-f-f-fine" Bill felt worried, now he had no one to sit with. The only people he knew that would be going are Beverly and Ben. Without them to sit with, he had no one.
"So shall we go?" Beverly asked.
"We shall." Bill smiled and off they went.
They handed in their tickets and Beverly immediately headed to the back and sat beside Ben. Bill was less lucky. Everyone had someone to sit with. There was no seat with just one person. There was an empty seat but Bill couldn't handle the embarrassment of sitting alone. Speaking of embarrassment, he was getting judgey looks from the entire bus for having nowhere to sit. He felt his heart start beating faster and his eyes began to water.
"Hey!" Someone yelled from behind him "You're holding up the line!"
"I- s-s-sorry" he scrambled to get off the bus, pushing through the line behind him. He ran to the other side of the bus, it wasn't exactly optimal privacy but at least there was no line up to just stare at him. His heart was racing a thousand miles a minute and his eyes were on the precipice of unleashing a waterfall of tears. He put his hand on his heart and felt the beating. It was oddly calming. Just feeling the soft pulsing of his heart underneath his hand brought his breathing to a steady. He played with his hands, something for him to do. He stayed there for a moment. Just breathing until the tears retreated back into his eyes and his heart returned to it's normal beat. Anxiously, he walked back onto the bus. He could see people on the left side of the bus whispering to their seating partners, some of them might have seen him. He pretended not to notice them. He scanned the bus one more time, this time his eyes fell on a seat in the middle of the bus, with a sole person. Once again, a smile came into his face and he walked over to the sole person.
"Hi....." his words faltered when his eyes fell upon the boy in the seat. He was the cutest boy Bill had ever seen. He had curly golden locks that fell perfectly on his head. He had the most darling blue eyes, ones that reminded you of the sky in the moment right before the sun goes down. He had a nice collared blue shirt, with a yarmulke to match, and beige shorts that looked like they'd been ironed a million times. He was wearing headphones that plugged into his Walkman. Bill could faintly hear Freddie Mercury's voice playing in his headphones. Bill was a huge Queen fan. He always found their songs comforting.
"I-l-l-love Queen!" He said to the cute boy in the seat.
The boy paused his Walkman and turned around to see Bill. His eyes looked even prettier from a closer view.
    "Um sorry?" The boy asked.
"Your muh-muh-music" Bill clarified "I could k-k-kinda hear it thr-ru-rough your headphones."
"Oh yeah, I love Queen too." The boy smiled.
"Do you muh-mind if I sit?" Bill asked.
"No, of course not" The boy said.
"So I c-can't?" Bill was confused.
"No you can!" The boy said "I don't mind."
Bill laughed a little and took a seat beside him.
"I'm Stanley Uris."
"Nice to meet you S-S-Stanley" He smiled "I'm Bill Denbrough."
