Friends?

Eleanor's POV

I stretch my hands over my phone, yawning as I stretch in my seat, I've been typing up a contract for James all morning and I've finally finished. I hit print on the computer and stand up, it's lunch time and James hasn't arrived at work yet, he said he would be here around lunch time as he has a few errands to run this morning. After collecting the now printed contract and putting it neatly into a folder, I slip into his empty office and put it on his desk before leaving.

'Hey Allison, want to grab lunch?' I ask her, leaning on her desk.

She's leaning back on her chair with her feet up on the desk, scrolling through her phone, it hasn't been busy at all this morning and she's taken full advantage of James not being her to be lazy but I don't really mind. 'Sure' she says, kicking her feet off the table and grabbing her bag.

I rush back to my office and pick up my bag before meeting her back at the elevator. Once outside, we walk down to the nearest fast food restaurant, chatting casually on the way. Once we had ordered and picked up our food we sat at a window seat.

'Any updates on Logan?' I ask her.

She shakes her head, 'I haven't seen him since but we've texted a few times, he said he's too busy to meet up'

'It's almost like something you'd see out of a movie, a room full of human organs' I shake my head, taking a sip of my fizzy drink to wash down the burger.

'I knew he was a gang leader, but I never expected this sort of thing, the most I really expected was that he was dealing drugs, but not human organs, where is he even getting them from? Is he digging up graves or killing people?' she frowns.

'Maybe neither' I shrug a shoulder but I'm not really convinced myself. We sit quietly for a few minutes and I glance out the window at the passers by, at the end of the road I see two men walking this way and as they get closer I instantly recognise both of them. James and Oliver.

I squint in an attempt to see better, what are they doing together? Are they friends? I thought James hated Oliver. I stare at them as they walk along the street, a few inches of space between them, James' lips are moving quickly whilst Oliver looks to be silent. They walk closer and I glance back at Allison who's finishing off her burger, I hope they don't see me.

A couple of minutes later they walk past the fast food restaurant that we're seated in, this time Oliver is talking, his hand waving animatedly as James stares straight ahead with his usual stone expression. What are they talking about? Luckily they don't notice us and walk past, I sigh in relief, turning back to my chips as Allison's scrolling through her phone again.

---

I'm sat in a meeting room with James, taking notes as a middle aged man makes a presentation, occasionally using a handkerchief to wipe at his sweaty brow. I'm barely even listening as my mind keeps going back to seeing James and Oliver together earlier today, I haven't asked James about it and he hasn't mentioned it.

'Do you have any questions Mr Andrews?' the man asks, dabbing once again at his forehead with his handkerchief, is it really that hot in here or is he just nervous?

'No, email my assistant the presentation' he states, standing up to shake the man's hand, I follow suit, cringing slightly at his also sweaty hand. I pull out my phone and follow James out of the meeting room and to the elevator. I saw you and James earlier talking, I thought you didn't like each other?

I text Oliver, the curiosity eating me up inside. I put my phone away as the elevator doors close and James' arm comes around my waist, pulling me closer to him. 'I've missed you gorgeous' he says, leaning his head down to kiss my shoulder.

'Where were you this morning?' I ask, smiling at him.

'I had some errands to finish at home' he says, I nod quietly.

'How about I take you out for dinner this evening? I'll pick you up from your house at 8?' he says, the elevator doors open and we step out, Allison isn't at her desk.

'That sounds good' I nod, giving his lips a quick peck as we arrive at my office.

'Just a peck?'  he pouts, making me giggle and kiss him again but for longer this time. He smirks as he pulls away and I go into my office, my phone vibrates. Nothing, he just told me to stay away from you. I frown, it looked like a much longer conversation than that to me, why can't he tell me?
