Unknown POV
I lean against the brick wall of an alley way, it's late at night and dark and with my dark clothing no one can see me. There's not a lot of people outside at this time of night, the occasional person will hurry past but no one has spotted me, they never do. I stare across the road at the entrance of the hospital, the automatic doors occasionally sliding open and then closed when someone enters or exits or when someone walks too close to them inside.
I know the hospital's routine, I've been doing this long enough, I glance down at my wristwatch, the security guard should be going for his break now, he only has fifteen minutes to eat something and sit down, during his break another guard takes over, that's when I can enter. The receptionists finished their shifts hours ago and apart from the occasional nurse or ambulance driver, the hospital is pretty much empty.
I watch in silence as the security guard stares up at the clock in the hospital wall, he glances around outside before he walks down the hallway, I know where he is going, he's going to the security room to go on his break and tell the person covering for him to go to the front doors of the hospital and take over. There are only two security guards who work the night shifts, this means that with one on the doors and the other on break, there is no one watching the CCTV. I pull my phone out and hack into the hospital's CCTV system, it's easy now I've done this plenty of times, I shut all the cameras before putting my phone back into my pocket, making sure it's on silent.
Adjusting my clothes and making sure the mask covers my face, I cross the road and slip in through the automatic doors in the hospital, this is all perfectly timed. I have fifteen minutes to do this, when the security gaurd's break finishes they're going to swap again and that's when I have to get out, this way no one will see me. No matter how many times I've done this, the security guards still haven't figured out that I enter when they swap, I guess not everyone can be as intelligent as I am.
I hurry down the hallways quietly, looking for the right room. I take the stairs two at a time, to the third floor, now I've found the right room, I glance around the hallway before opening the door and entering the room, locking it behind me. I glance back down at my watch, I have ten minutes.
I walk silently into the darkened room, the only light is from a bedside lamp that's turned on, that's when I see the face of the old man lying on the hospital bed, I don't really know who he is, I only met him a few times when I was young, I remember him briefly. But he knows who I am, well not exactly... he thinks he knows who I am, he thinks he has known me ever since I was a child, but he's wrong, and because of this I need to get rid of him.
Reaching behind my back, I pull out my knife, it glistens in the light, making me smirk. I walk closer until I am standing beside his bed, it's been a while since I have done this, the thrill of what I am about to do rushes through my body making me feel like an excited child who is about to get their favourite candy. I smile behind my mask, this is fun.
I grip both hands around the handle of the knife, I raise it above his stomach before plunging it down, I shiver in delight as I feel the knife pierce through his frail skin and sink into his organs, I hold the knife there. The old man gasps loudly, his eyes shoot open as he wakes from his previous slumber, his eyes widen as he looks at my covered face, only seeing my eyes, I bet he doesn't recognise me, of course not.
'Hello' I say to him, I pull the knife out quickly, making him groan, his hand moving to cover the wound, 'Let's be quiet, I'm on a strictly timed deadline so this must go smoothly'
I raise the knife again, this time over his throat and just as he's about to scream out loud, I plunge it down again, a gurgling sound is heard before silence takes over the room, I pull the knife out again and stare at him. Watching him for a few seconds before looking back down at my watch, just on time. I wipe the knife clean with the tissues by his bed, my thickly gloved hands, keep my fingerprints off everything, I put the knife back into the back of my trousers and exit, the room, glancing down the empty hallway before hurrying back down the stairs.
I watch from behind the staircase doorway as the security guard enters the security room, I hurriedly exit the hospital through the automatic doors, glancing back to make sure I am unseen, I walk back to the alley way, hiding in the darkness. The security guard returns, he has finished his break and I have finished my job, he stands by the doors looking bored, they don't suspect a thing, I pull out my phone and turn the CCTV cameras back on. They won't suspect anything until tomorrow morning, when a nurse goes to check on him, then the old man will be in the newspaper just like the others were.
I turn around and walk down the alley way to my car, I jump in and turn the key in the ignition, pulling my phone out once more I send a quick text.
'Done'
I drive silently back to my home, parking in the garage before unlocking and entering through the front door, I pull off my mask and head upstairs to my office. I sit on the large chair and log into the computer, I check the CCTV in my home, watching the tapes from when I had left the house, nothing out of the ordinary, just an empty home, satisfied I click on a camera that shows a room in the basement, the light is on inside the room, it always is.
I stare at the camera, it's a small room in the basement, barely noticeable for anyone who doesn't know it's there, the door is thick and heavy and soundproof, inside is cramped and cold, two long beds are inside and a small toilet, I stare at the two people laying on the beds, they're asleep, their skinny figures lay motionless on the uncomfortable beds, they know why they're locked in my basement and they know that they are never getting out. I need them, they're part of my plan and when my plan is complete I will get rid of them, it's simple.
Satisfied with everything, I log off and head down the hallway to my bedroom, changing my clothes and hiding my knife, I lay on the bed with a sigh and a smile of my face. I roll over onto my side and grab my phone off the nightstand, I click on my gallery and onto a special folder, I smile as I stare at the pictures I have taken of her, she's not looking at the camera in any of the pictures because she doesn't know that I took them, I stroke her face on the screen, before kissing it and laying the phone on the pillow beside me, soon it will be her laying beside me. Closing my eyes, I fall asleep.
