Chapter 11

I can't believe that after our midterms, weeks passed by as if it's twice faster. Today is already the last day of our final exam for the first semester, the last two hours to be exact.

The only reason why I looked forward for this day fo come was because after this exam, we'll be having our short sembreak. Although it's just one week, okay pa rin dahil kailangan ko na ng pahinga mula sa mukha ni Marie.

At talaga namang katabi ko pa siya ngayon sa seating arrangement namin, dahil bukod sa mga honors sa harapan ay alphabetical order na kami. Bakit kasi parehong letter A ang surname namin?

Only two remaining subjects are left for us to take. General Mathematics and Accounting. Zach reviewed with me last night through chats.

I must admit that my grades last term was pretty good. Hindi mataas pero at least hindi bagsak. They are enough to please my Dad.

I am supposed to be reading the reviewer Zach made for me but I chose to watch him read his own paper. He's concentrated and determined. Gusto niya atang i-perfect ang exam like how he did last time. Kasama lang naman siya sa list of With Honors last term.

It's hard to believe this nonsense thing I'm feeling towards him. Isn't it too fast? Unang araw pa lang, nainis na ako sa kaniya. He's good-looking, yes but as I've said, he's average!

"Good morning, ABM. "

Napaayos lang ako ng upo nang dumating na ang proctor namin para sa Gen Math. Hindi ko pa nakikita ang test paper na hawak niya, duduguin na ata ang ilong ko.

"Before you take the exam, can someone please lead a prayer?" she requested.

All of us turned our eyes away from her, refusing to lead the prayer.

"Idris, ikaw na," basa ko sa buka ng bibig ni Xyrene sa lalaking nasa gilid niya.

"Loko, bakit ako?" Panay naman ang iling ni Idris.

The proctor caught them blabbering, causing her to call Idris. "Yes, Mr? Can you lead the prayer, please? A short prayer will do, para rin makapagsimula na kayo."

"Siraulo kasi 'to eh," bulong niya pa kay Xy na sikretong tumatawa.

Panay ang kamot niya sa ulo at halatang pilit ang pagpunta sa harapan. He bowed his head a bit and started speaking.

"Classmates, let us pray."

Hindi ko napigilang tumawa nang humagikgik si Yelah at nakahawak pa sa tiyan. Everyone's eyes darted at her, then shifted to me because I failed not to join her. It was not surprising that Idris himself laugh too.

Sumama ang tingin sa kaniya ng proctor kaya napa-ayos ito ng tayo at namumulang itinuro kami.

"Miss, nagpapatawa po."

If Zach didn't look at me with a raised brow, I would be laughing louder. Tinakpan ko na lang ang bibig ko para hindi gumawa ng tunog dahil natigil na si Yelah kanina pa.

"In the name of the father, and the son, and the holy spirit, amen. Lord, maraming salamat po sa umagang ito, nawa'y gabayan niyo po kami sa aming exam. All this we pray in Jesus name, amen."
