"Kamusta ka aking mahal . . . sana ay nasa mabuti ka . . ."
After we left the hospital, Idris started singing stupid songs to tease me. He's driving so I can not punch him right now. Aside from Isaiah is lying on my lap.
"Shut up, Idris. The kid is sleeping here. Your voice sounds like a whale," pikon kong sermon.
"Ikaw pa rin ang hanap ng pusong ligaw . . . Ikaw ang patutunguhan at pupuntahan . . . " He didn't stop.
"I'll cut your throat if you don't stop now. I'm not kidding."
"Pag-ibig mo ang hanap ng pusong ligaw . . . Mula noon, bukas at kailanman . . ."
Wala talagang kinatatakutan ang hayop na 'to.
"I'll go to your nurse." I used my ace.
"Parang tanga naman, Leigh. Walang personalan. Hihinto na nga." He automatically stopped and pouted.
I rolled my eyes and smirked. We're both brokenhearted here, how dare he tease me like that?
"Galing ni Zach, 'noh? Magna Cum Laude na, topnotcher pa. Kung ako ex no'n, babalikan ko. Pero sa tingin mo? May sama ng loob sa 'kin si Zach?"
"I don't think so—seriously? You're asking me this after talking casually with him earlier? Kung mag-usap nga kayo ay parang araw-araw kayong nagkikita."
"Feeling close lang." He shrugged. "Alam mo, feeling ko rin may galit 'yon sakin, eh. Ooperahan daw ako nang walang anesthesia? Gusto akong mamatay sa sakit."
"Obviously, he's joking."
"Hindi eh, parang totoo. Ikaw kasi, ginawa mo akong kabit noon. Nakaka-offend kaya, mukha ba akong kabit?"
"Sorry, okay? I have no other guy friends back then." Ako pa ang may ganang magtaray.
"Hanggang ngayon naman wala, may nalalaman ka pang back then."
He's right. I have no other guy friend aside from him, even girls actually. After losing Yelah, I didn't find someone to replace her, I have never planned to replace her at all. I've met a lot of people in charities. I've tried talking with them and some became closer to me, but I don't consider them as friends.
It's fine for me. It's not like I want to collect friends before I die. One is enough, one true friend is enough and Idris owns that spot.
It's early three p.m. so Mom is not yet home. I invited Idris to rest for a bit but he refused. Mag-isa tuloy ako sa bahay ngayon.
We have no helpers now, no maid, guards, or driver. Madalang naman kasi kami mag-stay at home so it would be useless.
Mom didn't stop working, because I still take my medicines. I have undergone many operations throughout the years and it was costly. I'm actually planning to stop slowly, dahil kahit hindi sabihin ni Mom, I know she's tired.
I promised myself that after I turned twenty-four, I will surrender everything to Him. Let my life end when it supposed to be.
Hapon na pero mainit pa rin. I decided to swim while waiting for my Mom to come home.
I swam for almost an hour before getting tired. I took my robe and lay down on the sun lounger at the poolside.
I took my phone from the coffee table beside me. As expected, my inboxes are full of birthday greetings. I don't remember most of them, but I'm sure I've met them during charities or advocacy programs.
