"sit." billie ordered the girl and reese followed, sitting down on the closed toilet seat while billie stepped out for a moment.
"are your parents not here?" reese asked her when she walked back in her bathroom.
"no, just my brother, he's in his room. now explain what happened?"
"just pissed someone off." Reese chuckled, wincing at her lip which was currently split.
billie let out a sad sigh and cupped reese's face in her hands. "and you still somehow look amazing." billie smiled at her softly.
reese grinned at her, but quickly sent billie a look. billie's smile dropped immediately and she shook her head.
"sorry, shouldn't have said that."
reese shook her head and let billie wet a small towel and wipe the blood from under her nose.
"well, luckily it's not broken." billie sighed of relief. "but you're already bruising. seriously, who did this?"
"no one important, okay? don't worry about it."
billie nodded uncomfortably and wet the towel again, this time going over reese's lip.
"ah!" reese winced, making billie move back in a panic. "i'm sorry, i'm sorry. here, i'll just put this ointment on it."
billie finished off with reese's lip, and moved to the girl's knuckles, "i really don't feel like showing up at my house like this."
"i'm sorry that some dummy did this to you. i hope you get better, alright?"
"thanks for that and for um, cleaning me up too," reese stood up from the toilet seat.
"i'm gonna get out of your hair now, since you wanted space and all."
billie nodded while reese walked past her. "wait no," she stopped her. "stay."
reese stopped, sniffling a little, "you sure? i don't need to; i'll be out of your way, i swear."
"no, no. i want you to," billie grinned. "i actually want to talk about everything that's been going on."
"oh, sure." reese nodded, sitting down on billie's bed. after a while of silence, billie walked to her bed and sat as well.
"you hate me, don't you?" billie chuckled awkwardly. "of course not, why would you think that?"
"the way i've been treating you, it's been really mean, so i'm sorry about that." billie nodded.
"no, it's fine, really. you need space and you need time, i understood that."
"i've just been confused honestly. about everything really?"
"i wouldn't expect that from you. you're literally miss perfect around this city." reese mumbled.
"i'm not perfect, reese." billie denied quickly. "to me, you are," she whispered.
"but you still don't want to get involved with me, right?"
"i don't know what i want." billie shrugged, reese noticed how uneasy billie was, so she lifted her hand and placed it on billie's thigh.
"you don't need to be sure about what you want." it was like a fire was ignited in billie's body and it was a feeling she didn't want to stop.
billie's hand gravitated towards reese's shirt and she traced her finger along the collar. "you have some blood on your shirt." billie chuckled again.
"sorry." reese cleared her throat, moving her hand from billie's thigh. "i can get you a new one, just wait here."
billie quickly made her way to her closet and passed reese one of her rare loose fitting shirts.
"thanks." reese took her blood stained shirt off and quickly shrugged the new one on.
billie sat back on the bed, closer to reese and reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers and billie gulped at the sight of their intertwined fingers.
it looked right.
their fingers linking together looked right, it felt normal, but it shouldn't have felt normal and okay to billie, but it did.
her eyes moved up to scan across reese's face. 'you're so beautiful.' she thought to herself.
"ever since you came to this school, it's like my world's been turned upside down."
"fuck, i messed something up, didn't i?" reese sighed shakily. "no, no. in a good way, reese. i've feel more complete, i guess that's a way to put it."
"i thought you were in a cleanse, a cleanse from me. should i even be here?"
"i don't care about that cleanse, okay? it was dumb of me to think that was something that needed to happen. i mean, how can something that feels so amazing be so wrong?"
"it's not wrong, billie."
"my family says it's a sin, i can't. i don't want to lose them."
"you can't live by what your family thinks for the rest of your life."
"they'll hate me."
"and you'll have so many other people here who support you. you don't need to tell them right away, y'know."
billie nodded slowly and ran her fingers through her blonde hair. "but i can't force you to be with someone if you're not comfortable with it. so if you're not ready or just never ready, then i'll leave you alone."
reese stood up, smoothing down her, well billie's, shirt, obviously even more bummed at billie's denial. she liked billie so much, but she knew if billie wasn't going to do anything because of her beliefs, she couldn't force it.
she definitely didn't want to be the type to wait around for someone to be sure though. after everything reese has been through, she deserved more than trying to change someone ideals.
but she knew it wasn't billie's fault. she was raised with those bogus 'if you're gay, you go to hell' nonsense.
billie couldn't help it but use that as her defense and reese just didn't want to show her frustration at the fact that billie would willingly live her entire life the way her parents wanted it and not the way she wanted.
reese was stopped by billie again. "you said you wouldn't tell anyone, right?"
"of course not." reese sighed. billie sniffled and raised her shaky hands to cup reese's face and she softly pressed their lips together.
as soon as their lips connected, it was like every single thing that was drilled into billie about homosexuality being wrong flew out the window.
reese pulled billie closer to her and took immediate noticed of how sweet billie tasted; strawberries and honey, two completely different tastes and smells but it was perfect.
billie was perfect.
the two kissed passionately for what felt like for hours, which on reality was only seconds.
the two savored moment was brutally interrupted when billie's room door flew open with the sound of zoe and drew's laughter which quickly subside when the two girls realized what they had just walked in on.
"oh."
