you okay?
you kinda disappeared on me

i shoved my phone back into my purse and continued my short walk to the church. turning quickly, i walked up the stairs and open the doors, letting myself in.

"dad, are you here?" i call out once i approach his office. "come in," he answers and when i do open the door and walk in, my heart drops.

the same pastor that i ran to weeks ago when i first kissed reese was standing right near my father, a small grin forming when he spotted me.

i couldn't return the grin, instead i let out a shaky breath. he didn't tell him, please, tell me he didn't tell him, please, please, please!

"hey, sweetheart, how was school?" dad approaches me and places a kiss on my forehead. "it— it was fine." i couldn't tear my eyes away from pastor frances and he knew it too.

"you're a little early for bible study, though. me and pastor frances were going through some debriefing, that's all."

"that was it, that's all you talked about?" i looked down at my hands nervous to look up. "yeah, nothing but the usual, you have homework?"

"no, i did a lot of it during my classes, but i actually came to talk to you about something, dad."

"oh okay, i'll excuse myself and let you two be, it was good catching up with you patrick."

"alright, you have a good day." dad led him out and shut the door behind him and walked back in front of me.

"yeah, what is it you want to talk to me about?" he looked at me with concerned eyes. "um, we were in my junior seminar class and mr. howard said it would be good if i started my own club."

he nods, unaware of what i'm actually implying, "that sounds good, honey. i mean people like you, getting people recruited wouldn't be hard. what would the club be?"

i look down at my hands again and mumble it out. "fashion. i think i would make it a fashion club."

i look back up to see the look on his face and surprisingly he shrugs, "okay, that's fine. it would just be a club, it wouldn't interfere—"

"that's the thing i'm trying to say. it's a club i want to take really seriously, dad. you know i'm passionate about it."

"billie," he sighs quietly. "i thought we had this conversation with your mom, it's fun to do it now in high school but once you graduate, don't you think you want to look at other things?"
