That's when it happened...
When I was walking back home lost in my thoughts, I vaguely hear footsteps close behind me, I didn't pay too much attention. After 12 minutes of walking, I hear it get louder then suddenly I feel two taps on my right shoulder and at an instant I became stiff, I didn't move for a few seconds as my mind was telling me to turn around, but my body wouldnt budge. I gradually oscillated getting a glimpse of a person wearing a black hoodie and track bottoms right before I got a punch on my left jaw.
My vision slightly blurred, all I could hear is my bottle hitting the ground and a dirty smirk from another guy. I opened my mouth stretching my jaw as I regain my sight, tightening my fist for a return strike but before I could make contact to his face I get a sharp knee from the second guy to the bottom left side of my ribs winding me, I drop to the ground balancing on my right knee. One of them pushed me as my weight drags me flat on the road.
I try to make out their faces but it was still pretty dark out. I don't know what they wanted, they didn't try to take anything from me, it seemed like they did it out of enjoyment. They both took off running in different. I get up as I try to comprehend what just happened, I decided to walk over to James's house since it was closer than mine, to get a drink and mention what just happened.
I knocked on his door, I can feel that stinging pain on my cheekbone, it was around half 8 now, his mom opened the door; "hi Nathan...what happened to ur cheek, why is it swelled up", she scans my face with a sense of confusion. "just tripped that's all, not too bad" I say confidently. Before she could ask anymore questions I interrupted "is james home?"; "no..he left the house at 10 past 6, his friend picked him up...he was in a hurry he even left his phone behind, if you see him around could you tell him to get his phone". "Sure no bother", I say with a puzzled look on my face.
Was that James....
