A/N: I highly apologize for this chapter. Its kinda messy but I need to get all the introduction stuff out of the way lol. If you guys haven't heard 'Kids in the Dark' by All Time Low you're missing out but its on the side.
Elizabeth
The unknown culprit was still pulling me through the darkly dimmed hallways. I began to thrash and scream to see if anyone would hear me and help me out with this situation.
"Love please calm down we're almost there," the unknown male groaned.
"Im going to die in an abandoned building and I didn't even get to say bye to my cat," I thought, tears prickling my eyes.
After what felt like ages, he finally lets go of me. The gun that was between my finger tips was in the grasp of the mysterious boy in front of me.
"D-don't shoot me please," I stutter.
"Didn't you read the letter? We said we weren't going to hurt you," he chuckled," I only took this from you so you wouldn't shoot me." He had a thick Australian accent and a giggle that oddly intruiged me.
"W-we? There's more people here?"
"I'll show you in a moment but first, hand me the invitation that you received." I pulled out the folded 'invitation' and carefully handed it to him. He sat in the torn up couch that was placed in the middle of the room and took out a fluorescent flashlight and shined it on the paper. I spotted the extra words that appeared from thin air and onto the paper.
"So your names Elizabeth George. You're currently 17 and a junior at Dawson High and you're cute?" he reads.
"First off, how did you get all of this information on me and second of all, why does the paper say Im cute?" I scoffed. The fear of this giggly boy has faded and turned into annoyance.
"I have my people sweetie. You'll find out at some point. Oh and the paper doesn't say that you're cute. I did," he winks. The blood rushes to my cheeks as I avert my eyes to my shoes. I could feel his gaze burning through me and it kind of made me uncomfortable.
I hear his footsteps coming towards me as I look up at him. Without saying a word, he laces his fingers with mine and quickly pulls me out into the hallway and towards a bigger room. I stare at our interlocked fingers as we run and I can't help but feel shivers go through my spine. I nearly trip over my two feet because I don't pay attention to where we're going.
We arrive at the sattelite tower in the center of the abandoned center and I see a crowd of people there too. Standing right in the front of everyone is my best friend, Calum Hood. I let go of the boys hand and run into Calums arms. I havent seen him in months after he decided to move to a different city.
"Holy shit Calum I hate you for leaving me," I whisper.
"It's okay. Im here now," he smiles, kissing my forehead. The guy I was earlier pulls me away from Calum and rolls his eyes.
"Enough chit chat it's time for me to make a speech before we get this party started," he huffed.
"Alright. Everyone here has gone through the same things. Not the exact same problems, but fairly close. We've all been left to wonder what to do and to pretend we don't miss our past. As it said on all of our invitations, it says you were chosen to become a Kid In the Dark. The Kids in the Dark is a group that helps each other out in every way and this place, is our getaway," he yells, gest
"Tonight we have a couple of newbies that will start off our celebration. As we all know, they have to climb the satellite tower and pull the string at the top. First one to the top gets first dibs on their own personal room here," he continued," Newbies line up on each side of it!"
I stood on one of the four sides of the tower and looked up at it. How hard can it be? I thought. Calum stands across from me and two others stand to our sides. The sound of a gun cues us to go as we all grab the first bar and climb.
