I don't get why everyone hates Fredrick. I understand that Helen was not the warmest toward Annabeth, but she was also just jealous of the person *cough* Goddess *cough* who came before her.
On the other hand, no-one really likes her and it's great to have a non-God antagonist, so on that note...

Percy was nervous. More nervous that he had been in a long time, since he hadn't seen Fredrick or Helen in a while, though he and his girlfriend regularly took the twins on beach trips. Hand practically shaking, he reached up and rang the bell.
From the front step, Percy could hear the muffled shouting from inside,
"Boys! Fredrick! Someone get that," The voice belonged to Helen. There was a distant thumping from the stairs and the door flung open to reveal the twins,
"Percy!" They cried in unison and began talking at him both at once,
"Are we going to the beach?" And, "What are you doing here?"
Percy smiled, "Sorry guys, I'm actually here to see your dad - is he in?"
Their faces dropped, and as if on queue, Fredrick appeared from the living room,
"Boys, what have I told you about opening the door to strangers - Percy? Um, come in,"
Feeling a little awkwardly, Percy shuffled in the house, past the boys and towards Fredrick. He managed a small smile before the butterflies in his stomach turned into snakes. Helen walked out from the kitchen, which was at the far end of the hallway,
"So, Percy," Fredrick began, "You said you wanted to talk to me?" Percy swallowed the bile in his throat. Fredrick was not a bad guy, but the thought of the way he made Annabeth feel only twelve years ago at the age of seven made him angry,
"Yeah Yes," Percy cleared his throat, "I actually wanted to ask you something,"
If Fredrick tried to hide his sideways glance towards Helen, he didn't do it very well. He motioned to the front room,
"Why don't we go in here. Do you want something to drink?"
Percy shook his head as he and Fredrick sat down in the living room,
"Well, Mr. Chase, the reason that I came here today -" Before Percy could continue, Fredrick cut him off,
"Listen, Percy I think I know why you're here, and although you seem perfectly nice, don't you think you and Annabeth are a little young to be getting married?" Before Percy could get a word in edgeways, however, Fredrick continued, "And you're a Demi-God, and I'm not sure I want Annabeth to be tied down to that sort of life. She's already been away from us for so long, I think it's time she had a more normal life. I'm so sorry, Percy, but I'm afraid my answer is no,"
Fredrick seemed quite satisfied with his answer then. He was sure he had shut down all of Percy's intentions, but instead the teenager sat across from him did not seem fazed,
"Actually, Mr. Chase, I came to ask you for some advice. I am going to marry your daughter - provided she says yes - when I inevitably ask her to. I need your help because I need to ask for her mothers permission, and given the fact that she loathes me, it could be pretty problematic,"
There was a short silence, where Percy simply stared at Fredricks agog,
"What?" Was all he could manage. Percy smiled back at him,
"Big words - Annabeth taught me them,"
Fredrick shook his head, apparently trying to gather the information he had just recieved. Then he laughed. But it wasn't because he found anything funny. This laugh was cruel and harsh, like a whip,
"If you think that you are going to get Helen's permission for you to marry my daughter, you are sorely mistaken," Percy grimaced,
"Sir, I wasn't talking about Helen. I came here to ask you the best way to ask Athena,"
"And why would you want to do that?" Percy's reaction was quick this time,
"Because although neither of you were good parents to Annabeth, we have to put up with Athena, because whether you like it or not, Annabeth is a Demi-God and that's not going anywhere. I love your daughter and I'm going to marry her, with - or without - your permission,"
Percy stood up from the sofa and walked to the door, where Helen was stood, eyebrows raised and lips pursed,
"Bye Helen," Percy nodded towards her and then marched out the door.
