The Party

On my way down the stairs Caroline was on her way up. I took her hand and we walked down together everyone looked at me and then her and smiled. Alot of these people I haven't seen for a long time probably since I moved. I walked in the living room and introduced or my mamma interrupted me and introduced Caroline and then I went to the kitchen with the guys.
"Hey Luke who's the chick." Gilly asked.

"My girlfriend Caroline."

"Yeah we met her in a bar here in GA about a week before we moved Lukes said he was set to marry her. He asked her out to dinner and they'd kept in touch. She just moved to Nashville about four months ago." Said the familiar voice of Michael Carter as he walked in the house.

"Carter what's up ma man!" I bro hugged him. Then I nodded and re established what he said. And everyone seemed happy. I looked in the door way at her and yes I felt something that was probably like love for that woman. And I like it. I just smiled.

We all talked and messed around outside and Caroline Kelly and Mamma all got the food together and brought it outside. We said our prayer we always say about Chris at family gatherings and then dug it. Alot of before asked me about my music ad how it was goin and i answered with everything but my secret. And that's because I wasn't sure if it going to happen yet.

"This catfish is good mamma who caught it?" I asked in a smart ass voice.

"We'll Luther I suppose it's the ones you caught."

"Oh that's why they are so good." Everyone laughed then I got a phone call. I looked at my phone and it was a Nashville number.
I looked down "well if y'all will excuse me I must take this call."

I answered it and walked inside to the living room.

"Hello is Mr. Thomas Luther Bryan?"

"Hello yes it is but you can call me Luke if its shorter."

"Alright Luke, this is Capitol Records out of Nashville calling. I have seen some of your music and covers and id like to sign over on some songs and--.."

I got alittle excited and interrupted.
"I can't sign over on all my songs.."

"We'll boy I wasn't done. I was gonna say sign over on some songs and perhaps you."
My eyes got big I could tell.
"Hello? Luke you still there?"

"Yessir. Sorry. Umm of course."

"I'd like to meet with you sometime soon in person and that mochael carter guy your guitarist, maybe next Thursday?"

"That shall do. Thank you so so much sir."

"Goodbye luke see you Thursday."

Capitol bleeping records shit. It's like my dream. I immediately called carter into the house.
"Carter come in here now." I looked serious so he'd actually come.

"What is it? Who was on the phone?"

"Capitol records.... You.. And I.. THURSDAY!"

"Ho shit."

We were pumped we hugged and werre just freakin out then mamma came to the back door of the house.
"What's all the secret and surprise you're hiding." I walked back outside
"Mamma I am getting signed to Capitol Records."

"Like in Nashville?"

"Yes!"
"Atta boy." My dad said.
Mamma jumped up and down and yipped and hollered and everyone was congratulating me. Caroline came up to me am hugged me "baby I'm so proud of you." She whispered.
"Thank you darlin." And I kissed her.

Then I walked over to Kelly. She's the real one to thank here for getting me that show at the grand ole opera a week ago.
"You know if you didn't get me that show at the grand ole opera they wouldn't have seen me play. Thanks you're the best sister ever."

"My little brother deserves anything and everything love you Luke. And congratulations. It was the least I could do."

"Now lets Drink!" I yelled and everyone agreed.
