Getting To Know Eachother More

Mariah and I were sitting watching the second movie for the night. We were watching Sweet Home Alabama. One of my personal favorites. We were sitting there and she was leaning on my shoulder. I guess I wouldn't call it cuddling though.

Soon the movie was over and she turned the tv off.
"Come here Luke." She said as she grabbed my hand and pulled on off the couch. She brought me over to my dining room table and we sat across from each other. "Let's talk? I feel like I don't know you well enough. I want to get to know you."

"Okay." I said and sat down. "Well what do you wanna know?" I asked. Then I got up. "Hold on." I said and I held up a my pointer finger. I walked into the kitchen and opened the pantry and got out a bottle of champagne. I grabbed two glasses and brought them over and put them on the table and poured some wine. "There that's better." I said with a smile. "Now what did you want to know?"

"I don't know just tell me about you. Your background I don't even know what you do for a job?" She said.

I didn't really want to tell her cause I don't want her to just use me. But I think I should. After tonight i realized I kinda like her. More than just a friend.

"Well my name is Thomas Luther Bryan. I'm 25 but my birthday is coming up here in about a month or so. I used to lived in Leesburg Georgia. But I decided to move here."

"Why did you move here?" She asked with curiosity.

"Because I wanted to started writing. My goal is to be a country music artist. Go get a record deal and play at big stadium shows. And I'm slowly workin my way there."

"No way. That's awesome. So I was kinda thinking that you are the writer of All my friends say?"

"That is true." I said and smiled. "Well I didn't write it but I helped co write it and then I cut it."

"That's really cool. So do you have any siblings?" She asked.

I just looked at my wine and then Took a drink..

"Tough subject or what?" She asked.

"I have a older brother and sister."

"What are their names and what do they do?"

"Chris and Kelly." I paused. "Chris was killed in a car accident like four five years ago." I paused again. "And Kelly passed away unexpectedly about a week or so after my birthday." I took another drink of wine.

"I'm so sorry Luke.." She said with glossy eyes.

"No don't be sorry. It's not you're fault. God has a plan and we just need to understand that." I said with the little bit of courage I had. "So how about you? Tell me about yourself?"

"Well my full name is Mariah Jo Cole. I'm 24 years old. I moved here from Louisville Kentucky about a year ago. Just because I like the country music atmosphere. I been studying to be a veterinarian. And I'll probably apply at the place you got the puppies." She said and smiled.

"Nice. That will be fun. Do you have siblings?"

"Well we lived on a big horse ranch raising thoroughbred horses. We also raised quarter horses as well. I'm the youngest. My oldest brother Kent is married and has two kids. Then my sister Lindsey is married and they have two kids as well. And my next brother Jackson isn't married but he has a girlfriend. Then there's me. Hahahah" she said.

"So there's four of you?" I asked.

"Yes."

"So what do you mean by then there's you?"

"I haven't had a boyfriend for two years. My last boyfriend was a total jerk. I've been just kinda waiting for a guy to come to me. But that hasn't happened yet." She smiled. "But I'll find some one."

"Ah."

"Yeah. How about you?" She asked me.

Do I bring up Caroline? I mean she's gone. For now. What if she returns. I need to just forget about her. I shook out of it. "After Kelly's death my girlfriend and I broke up. She's on some missions trip now. And I'm not sure if I'll see her again. I'll be honest I still like her though. She was beautiful. She's defiantly the one that got away." I said kinda dazed with a half smile.

"Oh.." She said. Kinda bummed. Looking down on the table.

"Why so bummed?" I asked. Then I smiled. "Mariah you are beautiful too. And I'll be honest. I think I'm starting to like you."

Her head shot up. "Really?" She asked blushing.

"Yup." I winked.
