"Take in that swelting heat!" I breathe in the heat and the high humidity of the weather now that we were finally here in Australia. "Home sweet-!" I groan out from the blast of heat that smacks me in the face and Five immediately gets disgusted from how hot he was, not used to this weather at all even if it was really early in the next morning with the sun just starting to rise.
"Shit, is it really this hot!?" He gasps, almost gagging from the heat and it makes me laugh. He has not experienced this at all in his 60 plus years alive.
"Unfortunately yes and it gets worse later on. Mostly through Summer and Spring but Autumn and Winter are so much colder than you expect it to be. And right now, it's spring time baby!" I grin at him, the both of us getting out through customs and security before heading towards the bathroom with our luggage since I desperately needed to change my clothes and freshen up. "I'll be out in a few and we can Uber to our hotel." Five nods and I walk into the large bathroom, quickly brushing my teeth again and freshening up before changing my clothes into a black summer maxi dress.
I look around and I see Five on his phone, leaning against a pole with our stuff and I let myself enjoy the scene. He really looked like any other normal boyfriend waiting for their partner, him finally understanding how to use the technology of the world but he did complain most of the time about how his laptop sometimes stopped working on him. He had changed clothes too, wearing a simple black polo shirt with white slacks, sticking to his sunnies and his cap. He looks up and I couldn't see behind his mask if he was smiling until he brought it down to his chin, beaming at me and I walk over to him.
"Ready?" he asks and I nod, him stealing a quick kiss from me. "The Uber is waiting for us."
"You know, I never thought I would actually see the day where you know about or even use the services of this new world. I remember the first time we met, you had no clue what an iPhone was and here you are, using one!" I snicker as we both walked outside with our luggage, finding the car we hired.
"Yeah, like old person mentality, I despise these things but I do have to say it makes communicating so much easier. And now that I don't have my powers, I needed to catch up with this world." Five helps me put our stuff in the trunk and we get into the car, the driver taking us away from the airport and to our hotel.
We were going to drop our stuff at the hotel first and get some sleep before seeing my family for lunch, seeing as we arrived in the dead early morning so we both were tired. They arrived home a day earlier than us to get the house all ready for me and Five. No, I didn't tell my mum and my sister that I brought him with me, but I did kinda tell them I was bringing someone. I wasn't specific cause I wanted to surprise them.
I chuckle lightly when I see Five look out the window in awe, seeing the ocean right next to the shore as we drove down the road. He looked so fascinated and amazed since he has lived within city limits almost his entire life and never experienced seeing the ocean so close like this before. He lowers the window and we both get hit with the smell of the sea and salt and honestly, I missed it. So much. It was so refreshing and I lower my window as well, letting the wind mess up my hair as I take in a deep breath. I lean my head on my arms that folded along the window ledge, smiling brightly from the happiness I felt being home again.
