"Just Friends"

Its Been Awhile

*Shawns POV*

I walked up to my front door of my parents and knocked. They answered and hugged me tight. They didn't say anything, they just hugged me. I smiled as we sat down on the couch.

"Tell us everything" my mom said.

"There's so much to say" I replied.

"Where's Carrie?" She asked.

"She's home right now, she'll be down in a couple days" I replied.

She smiled and nodded.

"Well somebody's coming over for dinner" my dad said.

I looked at them weird and sat back a little.

"Lauren and her family" he replied.

I nodded slowly.

"This might be a little weird but it'll be okay, she knows that you and Carrie are together" my mom finished. "And she's Carries friend so she won't do anything"

"I can be professional about this" I sighed.

They smiled and the doorbell rang. My mom opened it to Lauren and her parents. Her hair was gorgeous. I couldn't stop staring at her. I shook my head and cleared my throat.

"Shawn, how are you?" Her dad asked.

"I'm fine, thank you. and you?" I asked.

"I'm well" he said smiling.

I smiled and nodded.

"Shawn" Lauren said smiling.

"Lauren" I replied.

I hugged her lightly and we all sat down for dinner. We ate and Lauren wouldn't stop staring at me now. I looked up a couple times to look at her and she would smile. I chuckled at my dads jokes. After dinner, I went outside for a walk and heard someone catch up to me. I looked back and saw Lauren.

"Mind if I join?" She asked.

I shrugged and slightly nodded.

"So how are things?" She asked.

"Great actually" I replied vaguely.

She nodded and sighed.

"I've been thinking a lot lately, about us" she said.

I stopped and stared at her.

"Why? You broke up with me, you cheated on me, you broke my heart" I said rudely.

"I know I'm sorry" she mumbled. "it was an accident"

"So you just accidentally slept with my friend?" I asked.

She shook her head and sighed.

"I know I'm sorry" she said holding my arm.

I looked at her hand and ripped from her grip.

"Shawn, I really am sorry and I will always love you" she said.

My eyes widened and my heart cracked. All that could go through my head was Carrie, Carrie, Carrie.

"Yeah well the feelings not mutual, because I love Carrie and only Carrie" I replied coldly.

She kissed me and I pushed her off.

"What the hell was that?!" I yelled.

"I'm sorry I just missed it" she mumbled.

I scoffed and ran inside.

"Where's Lauren?" My mom asked.

I scoffed and ran to my room. I dialed Carrie's number.

"Hi baby" I said.

"Hey" she replied sweetly.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Hanging with my parents" she replied.

They said hi and I smiled.

"When are you coming?" I asked.

"In a day or two why?" She replied.

I looked at my door and sighed.

"Just wondering, I miss you" I said.

She chuckled.

"I miss you more" she said as I closed my eyes.

I sighed and cleared my throat sitting on my bed.

"I'll call you later" she replied.

"Okay, I love you so much" I said.

"Love you so much too babe" she said.

I smiled and held my phone in my hand tightly. I decided to go to bed. I felt horribly rude for just leaving my family but I needed to get that kiss off my mind.

"I love Carrie" I mumbled over and over again until I fell asleep.

The next morning I headed downstairs for breakfast and to apologize to my parents.

"Hey guys" I said walking down the stairs slowly.

"Shawn Peter Raul Mendes you're in so much trouble" my mom said putting her hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry mom I had reasons for just skipping out like that" I said.

"Like?" She said.

"So many reasons I can't explain" I replied scarcely.
