2nd time's a charm

Kyra's POV

They say you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Well I say to hell with that.

I'm going to make a great impression on my boss today, he'll forget all about yesterday.

I did my whole morning routine with Jayden and drove to Starbucks to get mine and Mr Coleman's coffees then drove to work after. When I got there I said hi to Tiffany and we agreed we'd have lunch in my office today.

I went up the elevator with a few other people but was the only one left when it reached the 8th floor.

I walked to my office and place my bag and my coffee on my desk and then walked over to my boss's office.

I knocked softly and he told me to come in. I half expected he wouldn't be in but then again Tiffany did mention he practically lives in that office.

"Good morning Mr Coleman, I brought you your morning coffee", I said with a smile.

He just glanced up at me and motioned for me to put it on the table. I did so and lingered around for a bit hoping he'd at least say good morning back or say thank you for the coffee.

"If there's anything else Miss White then spit it out if not then I'd like to go back to work without you hovering over me", he said not even looking up at me.

Umm rude!!

I rolled my eyes, sighed and walked out.

Well so much for making a good second impression Kyra.

I walked into my office with my head hanging and decided I'd stop trying to impress him and just do my job the best way I know how to and go home to my boyfriend.

Lunch time came around really fast. Tiffany brought food for the both of us. She had made pasta at home the day before and had a lot leftover.

We ate while having a nice conversation and got to know more about each other.
She was a lovely person.

After eating she waved goodbye and made me promise we'd go out for drinks later.

I got back to work, and before it was time to go home, I got a call from my boss's office and I cursed a bit internally before going there.

When I got in he was sat on his chair and was looking directly at me. He motioned for me to have a seat on the chair in front of him.

"Miss White, I will be going out for drinks tonight with a few business partners and as my assistant, you will be coming with me", he said not even asking if I was available.

There's no way I'm going for drinks with this guy and his 2 other male business partners. I have to lie my way out of this.

"I'm sorry Sir, but I have plans tonight, I didn't realise I had to also join you for any of your meetings that happen after working hours. So I already made plans today and I can't cancel them, they're very important. I need to go see my grandmother at the hospital, she is very ill", I said convincingly.

"Very well then, I'll let you do that this one time, but next time you see I have a work related outing after your normal working hours, do not make plans, just in case I need you there", he said believing my lie.

"Thank you so much, Mr Coleman. I will see you tomorrow, enjoy drinks with your business partners Sir", I responded sweetly.

"I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, I hope she gets better soon", he uttered honestly.

OMG, he does have a heart!

Now I almost feel bad for lying to him.

But then I remembered he's been a jerk to me since I got here so he deserves this.

I walked out of his office into mine. Grabbed my bags and logged off my computer. Then went downstairs to Tiffany.

"Tonight is going to be so fun, go get changed and we'll meet up at the bar later. Wear something cute", Tiffany said with so much excitement.

"Alright then, I'll see you in a few", I said as I walked towards my car and drove home.

Tonight was going to be a good night!
