David's POV
I walked into my house with Kyra's hand in mine. The past few weeks had been nothing short of absolute bliss. I never thought someone could come into my life and knock me off my feet before I even got the chance to realise what was going on.
She was everywhere. In my mind, in my house, in my company, and in my heart. Everything that I am was consumed by her.
I had a gone to the florist and bought a 100 long stem red roses earlier and brought them home, before rushing back to work. I placed them on the kitchen island. I watched as her gaze fell on them and I saw her breath hitch a little and her skin flush, before she looked up at me with the cutest grin.
I felt guilty for not having bought her flowers before this. I had done the whole relationship thing backwards with her and she deserved better. I wanted to make things right today.
I walked over and grabbed the flowers, and then handed them to her. Before she took them she gave me the biggest hug and a small kiss on the lips and said, "thank you David, they're beautiful and I love them so much."
"Although now I'm curious, why are you buying me flowers Mr Coleman?" she raised an eyebrow at me.
"You might want to put those in a vase princess" I replied.
She rolled her eyes at me and went to do that. I watched her through out the whole process, partly because I couldn't keep my eyes off her and partly because I was memorising all her movements in case what I was about to say blew up in my face. In case she felt like I was moving too fast and suffocating her.
She walked over to me and grabbed my work bag and started to go upstairs, "come on, let's go freshen up and you can tell me all about the big plans you have for us tonight" she said.
I was really nervous and I even considered putting the whole thing off and just carrying on as normal, but decided I'd waited too long already. "Wait Kyra, there's something I want to say to you before you go up, please".
She turned and her eyes pierced into mine and it was as if she could see my nervousness, because worry and panic was immediately plastered across her face. She walked over to the living room and carefully our bags on the couch and then turned to face me again.
Her voice was a bit shaky as she spoke, "Were the flowers a parting gift? Were you just buttering me up before leaving me David? Is that why you're nervous? You don't want me? Is it because I can't get pregnant? It's okay, I understand, I'd leave me too. I know I'm broken". She said the last part in a half whisper.
I walked over to her and held her in my arms, so tight I'm surprised I didn't suffocate her. When I let go, I held her face and made her look at me so she could see deep into my soul and see that I meant every word I was about to say.
" I bought you those flowers because I wanted to apologise for how our relationship started, to how it's been going. I do not regret anything that led us here but I do wish I had done things the right way. I'm asking you today to be my girlfriend, to officially move in with me, even though you already live here and have your own keys. But I know I never officially asked you, so I'm asking now. I also want to say, you've brought a light into my life that's illuminated even the darkest parts of my soul and for that I'm forever indebted to you. I never want you to doubt whether or not I want you, for as long as there's breath in my lungs and blood runs in my veins, I will always want you. And please princess, never think of yourself as broken, ever, because you're not. As much as I'd love for you to carry my babies, if life doesn't will it, then I'm happy spending the rest of my life giving all my love to you. But we can keep trying, it hasn't even been that long, so don't think that princess. I love you Kyra, in a way that I never thought I could love. And if you feel anything remotely like I feel for you, please be mine. I promise to spend my life trying to make you happy". I professed.
By the time I was done, Kyra was in tears and I was trying to wipe them off but they kept coming. She wrapped her arms around me and gave me a very long hug while she attempted to compose herself.
When she was done she looked up at me again and I searched her eyes for what she would say next. Her eyes filled with humour and I saw her smile, I wasn't sure whether to be worried or relieved.
"That was very cheesy Coleman, I'm not sure whether to swoon or throw up" she giggled. "I love you too, so much, and of course I'm staying here, you're not getting rid of me that easily" she continued.
"I never want to get rid of you".
I leaned down and kissed her. When the kiss started to get heated, I pulled back. I could see the protest in her eyes, "you'll have to wait a little longer for that princess, I have to get started on dinner, I have to cook for my girlfriend, I know she's had a long day at work, I heard her boss is absolutely horrendous!"
She laughed and it was the most beautiful thing, I couldn't believe I managed to get this amazing woman to love me. I didn't deserve her, but I knew I'd spend my life trying to be worthy of her.
"Come on, come watch me cook, and after I've fed you, you need to feed me, because I'm starving!" I winked at her after that last part and her cheeks flushed red. My girlfriend.
I'm definitely going to bury myself in her tonight!
