Kyra's POV
The following day at work was very awkward. Especially considering I had to help Mr Coleman prepare a presentation for one of our clients so it meant we would be working together closely for the next 2 weeks.
You could cut the tension in the room with a knife.
We worked really well together though and got through the rest of the week with him being very professional.
I guess we're pretending that he didn't try to kiss me then. Nice!
I was excited for the weekend because that meant I could finally rest and have a break from all of it.
Talk about a rough start to a new job!
On Saturday morning I woke up and made myself and Jayden some breakfast. We ate in silence as things were a bit rocky ever since I had gone for drinks with Tiffany.
He was expecting me to apologise to him for going out while he was upset, and I wanted him to apologise for getting upset about me having a social life. We were at a crossroads and I wasn't backing down.
After eating, I had a shower and sat in front of the TV and scrolled through Netflix aimlessly.
I ended up rewatching Brooklyn 99 for what I assume was the 99th time. Pun intended. I'm so funny!
"So you're just going to sit there and ignore me like you've been doing all week", Jayden said as he sat next to me.
I looked and him and asked, "are you finally ready to apologise ".
"What the hell should I apologise for Kyra? The fact that you prioritise everything above this relationship. You chose your job and your new "friend" whom you just met, over spending time with your boyfriend of two years". He barked.
"OMG Jayden can you be any more selfish? I can't fucking spend every second of my life with you. I have to work and make friends and actually have a social life. Just like you do. You don't see me getting upset when you go out with Scott and them. So can you please stop with the double standards!"I shouted back.
"I'm not doing this right now, I'm leaving", he barked while getting up.
"Jayden wait, don't go, please. I'm sorry okay. It's just I don't have any friends of my own and I thought I'd make some now, I'm sorry I shouted at you. And I'm sorry for going out when you wanted me to stay home", I said pulling him back on the sofa.
"It's fine, let's just move on and have a good day okay?" He said as he sat back down.
I sighed and asked him"what do you want to watch then?"
Before he could reply, my phone rang and the caller ID said Tiffany. I gave him an apologetic look before I picked it up.
"I'm not doing this", he said as he walked out the door and I heard him drive off.
God! Are all relationships this hard?
"Hey Tiff, how are you doing" I spoke into the phone.
"So we're using nicknames now, okay then Ky" she responded.
I laughed a bit before saying " You're the worst you know that right?"
"I know, so anyway, I wanted to know if you were free today. I need a shopping buddy. And I thought maybe you'd want to come with? ", she asked.
Great, another way to make Jayden mad.
"Actually girl, I can't. My boyfriend's already upset I went for drinks earlier this week and he says I don't prioritise him so I'm going to have to take a rain check on the shopping trip" I said apologetically.
"Nah, do not tell me you have this boy controlling you? Because if so I will show up there and beat his ass up", she responded.
I chuckled a bit and told her it wasn't anything like that. It's just Jayden gets jealous sometimes.
"Listen Kyra, you're beautiful, you don't need a man that's going to hold you back and everything you've said about this boyfriend of yours sounds really off. I'm just saying you deserve better than this" She said honestly.
"Thanks babe, listen, I have to go. I'll text you later okay" I said and hung up before she could respond.
Was Tiffany right? Was Jayden holding me back?
