July 19th, 1978Sidney had found herself tossing and turning all night. Plagued with nonsensical nightmares. It was beyond frustrating.
She had finally given up on resting once the sun had begun to peek through the curtains of the cabin.
Sitting up in her bed, her eyes landed on a still sleeping Ziggy, whose red hair was tangled from wriggling around in her sleep.
Standing from her bed, Sidney peered through the cabin window out at the empty camp. It looked like a ghost town, she wasn't used to seeing the campgrounds so bare.
Running a hand through her hair, Sid grimaced slightly at the feeling.
Grabbing a change of clothes from under her bed, settling on a pair of bright pink overalls, a yellow button-down, and her old Nike's. Pinning a note to Ziggy's calendar, Sidney quickly made her way out of the cabin and towards the showers. Hoping that if she hurried she wouldn't have to repeat another lock-in incident.
Though a figure emerging from the trees had her halt her quick pace. "Morning, stalker." She called out with a smirk once she recognized the figure to be Nick. "Taking an early morning stroll?" She questioned as she came to a stop in front of him.
Sidney quirked an eyebrow up at him in question as he stayed silent.
Nick looked like a fish caught out of water. Like he had just been caught doing something he wasn't supposed to do.
His silence allowed for Sidney to grow more curious as to what he was doing up.
It wasn't like it was his turn to surveil the campground, she knew this because it was Tommy's turn this morning. "Everything okay Nick?" She spoke up, finally snapping Nick out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, sorry. Guess I haven't woken up fully." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "What were you doing out there?" Sid nodded her head towards the trees he had just come from. "Surveilling." Nick answered quickly.
Sidney slowly shook her head in response. "I thought it was Tommy's turn?" She didn't think, she knew.
"Yeah, it was. But, Cindy wasn't feeling that well and he wanted to stay with her." Another lie. The last time Cindy got sick was in Middle School, and the last time she admitted to being sick was earlier than that.
"Oh," Sidney stated, her lips pursing together at the lie. "Well... I'll let you get back to work then, Counselor." She tried to pretend she wasn't onto the lie but Nick knew he had been caught.
She could feel his pointed gaze on her back as she continued on her path to the showers. All she wanted to know was why he would lie to her. It wasn't like him.
But, Sidney would be the one lying if she said that his gaze didn't add to her snapping the lock of the showers as quickly as she did.

Pinning her hair back, Sidney made her way out of the showers half an hour after the bell had chimed.
For the first time since she and Ziggy had arrived at camp, she actually felt kind of at peace. The campers that ran past her giggling didn't annoy her, the blowing of Kurt's whistle wasn't ticking her off, she didn't even hate the idea of Color War for once.
