chapter fourteen, the golden egg

Triumph was her's. And she should be in a jovial mood. In fact, she would've been grinning her ass of got the small triumph (or not so small) of defeating a fucking dragon. However, the pain in her arm was catching up to her, scratches covering her face from rocks that had dug into her skin and cut it open as she stumbled towards the opening of the tent, the heavy golden egg resting in her good arm.

Bonnie wasn't prone to accidents, or getting hurt. The one time she'd been in the hospital wing (other than when she visited a friend) was when a Weasley prank went wrong and hit her dead center in the face and made her nose start to grow so she looked like one of those witches in a cartoon, mangled wart and everything. Having visited her friends in the Hospital Wing several times, she knew Madam Pomfrey would be down right disgusted with the tasks.

And indeed she was. If it hadn't been for the fact that she needed to clean up Bonnie she would've probably been cursing anyone that had anything to do with the tournament. She dragged Bonnie into the tent, muttering furiously but Bonnie still had a small ringing in her ear, making her wonder if a rock was stuck in it or something.

Pomfrey tuts looking at her arm. "Well if could've been a lot worse," she said, looking at the arm. "You're lucky you got out of the way in time. And lucky the tail missed you! I swear these people don't think through these tasks. And they are supposed to be safe." She muttered angrily, pulling out an ointment and rubbing it on Bonnie's forearm where the burn was, red and angry and only then did she notice the distinct smell of burning flesh, making her nose wrinkle as she felt bile rise in her throat. "What monster will they bring here next year?" She scowled.

"Bon! Well done!"Amber gushed loudly and she ran in, Cedric following not far behind, looking out of breath.

Amber went to grab her shoulder, most likely to shake it in her excitement but Pomfrey looked like she was about to have an aneurysm as Amber reached for Bonnie's shoulder, Cedric catching on and pulling her hands away quickly, only for Amber to slap his away.

"Excellent job Bonnie!" Cedric said cheerfully. "Looks like running into walls blindly did pay off."

"Told you it would," Bonnie said, voice hoarse as she grinned at them.

Cedric went to say something else but Pomfrey cut in, "If you too want to stay in here make yourselves useful. Grab that bowl of water and rag over there," she said, pointing, despite her wand being a few inches away from her hand and being able to most likely summon it.
