Elijah (Thu, Sep 4)
Today was the day I was going to get my driver's license...more like the papers than the test. I'd already passed, but I needed to wait for the papers to be printed so that I could finally legally drive. I was 17, so I could indeed be allowed to get my driver's license. Patrick had already got his around May, mostly to be able to see Kate without having to use the bus or ask mom or dad to take him there.
After I got the papers, the first thing waiting for me outside was Patrick's car, as I didn't have my own yet.
"You know what to do", he said and smiled at me.
I arrived at Elisabeth's house and started pushing the horn, yelling at her to come out. She looked outside, surprised to see me driving a car, and she told me to wait for a little. She walked out of her house wearing a beautiful pink dress that matched with her shoes, as well as her purse.
"I didn't know you could drive", she said, smirking at me.
"Well, I didn't know either, until now", I said, smirking back at her.
We decide to go up the hill, but only us, this time. We drank a little bit of wine, ate a little bit too much cake, and took tons of photos of the sunset, as well as of each other. It was such a great evening. Kate called us a few times to check up on us, but that's all. Patrick texted me a few times to see how things were going, too.
The sun had already set, and the only thing you could now see was the purple-orange colors in the sky. It looked so...magical. Elisabeth had rested her head on my shoulder and was staring at the sky, smiling as the colors kept on changing with time.
"You know, Elijah," she said, "remember when I thought you were a stereotypical jerk?", now that I think of it, I did remember that. Clearly, actually. It didn't happen long ago, but it was still long enough to slip my mind. She thought that the fact Patrick and I were rich and popular would automatically make us stereotypical jerks. "To be honest, I never expected for you two to be this nice. Your behavior has got me surprised, really. And I'm honestly glad you didn't turn to be the way I thought you'd be. Knowing that Kate holds your brother and your family so dear to her, I'd never want to live with the thought that any of you would hurt her feelings", and she then turned to look at me. I could see the joy in her eyes, as well as her relief. You could tell she was happy just by looking at her. "I honestly miss my hometown. I miss seeing my friends there, my family, everyone...but here, here I enjoyed myself so much. I met Patrick, Lucy, Emily, and most importantly, you. I've had so much fun with you, and you've honestly become such an important person to me in such a short time. You and Kate are the only ones that truly make me want to stay here and never leave", my heart was melting at that moment. I was making her happy, I was making her want to stay here, it was I, apart from Kate, not someone else. And that was enough to make my heart melt. It was enough...to make me see this girl differently. So very much differently than I had until now. Even when I'd joked around about it on the first day we met, I didn't expect it to actually happen. But here I was, watching as the day was turning into the night with that one girl, that one girl who did in fact change my life, just with one sentence.
"You know, Elisabeth, you're an amazing person. And I never in my life would've thought that you'd become such an important person in my life, either", I said and Elisabeth looked at me with a huge smile on her face. She then immediately opened her arms and hugged me. It was a tight hug. A hug that showed how much she valued me, and of course, I hugged her back, showing that I did value her, too. And from that moment, I knew that everything was going to change between us. Today was the beginning of a truly new life, for both Elisabeth and I.
