(A/N: Okay this is my first TOH story so some information before you start. First, as we don't know much about the second Luz that is in the Human Realm I've decided to remove that part for this story. Instead, Luz has just been missing after camp, and Camila has been trying to find her. The second is that this chapter was written before Season 2 Episode 10 Yesterday's Lie so if any new information is given then it may not be included in this story. Have fun reading! Also if you spot any mistakes let me know so I can fix them. It's been a while since I wrote anything.)

Two years had passed since Luz had left the Boiling Isles and returned home to the Human Realm. It had been hard getting used to being back in a world without strange creatures lurking in the night to feast on one's flesh, or any type of magic to speak of. Just the boring old human world that Luz never felt she belonged in. Not a day went by that she didn't once think about the life she had left behind. The amazing sights and magic, her friends Willow, Gus, Eda, King, and of course her girlfriend Amity. She wondered how much all of them had changed in the two years since she saw them. Luz herself had grown a bit and stood just a few inches under her mother now. She had also allowed her hair to grow more so she could make all types of new styles, but she had saved all her old pictures to share with the others on the day they finally meet again.

They were always on her mind whenever she had a second to think. Luz would always write them letters and look at their photos particularly during the dead of night when she should have been sleeping. Just like tonight, Luz was burning the midnight oil write another letter to send to the demon realm of the Boiling Isles. It had become her favorite thing in the whole world to do whenever she had her privacy. On any normal week, Luz could send twenty letters if she was in a good mood, all being pages long. Then she would get letters returned to her by those she left behind in that amazing world.

Of course, she had promised to visit whenever she could, but Luz had soon discovered that disappear for months had a very large effect on her freedom at home. Upon returning home to the human world the first thing Luz did was return home to find her mother, a number of relatives, and family friends waiting for her. The house had been turned into a mini-camp to look for her. The walls were covered with many maps of the surrounding area with places marked with lines, and crosses. They had been looking for her, and Luz felt sorry for having them all worry. It wasn't enough that the fond memories of her time in the Boiling Isles kept her up, but the guilt of how she hurt her mother did as well. Luz stopped writing her next letter for a moment and thought back to the day she came home.

*Two Years Ago*

It was late in the day when Luz had walked through the portal and found herself standing in a pile of snow. Summer camp had been long over and fall had come and gone. Seeing how much time had really passed Luz had been frantic to get home but was also afraid of what her mother would do. What should she tell her? She couldn't tell her mother about her adventures cause they might think she'd gone completely crazy. It was impossible to use her magic glyphs in this world to prove anything, so Luz decides she'd simply tell her mother she ran away because she hated feeling like a freak to everyone, but came crawling back home when she realized how stupid she was which wasn't too far from the truth. Sure she might get grounded until she turned eighteen and might get sent to a school for troubled girls, but at least she'd stay out of the loony bin.

Luz removed all her belonging she brought back and hid them in the abandoned house that that portal opened to. If she ever got the chance she'd come back and rehide everything at home, but for now, it was safer here. Then Luz made sure Loki, her palisman, had detached from her staff so he could stretch and explore the old house while she was gone for who knows how long. Loki was an interesting palisman made from blue palistrom wood. Luz decided to make him as unique as her mixing elements of two creatures she loved. His body was made to look like that of Mariana Fruit Bat because Luz loved their puppy-like little faces, but his tail was that of a snake that would wrap around the staff when perched.
