(A/N: Hey everyone it's been a while, but here's a new update. It's not as long as I wanted it to be, but I cut it short to give you all something to hold you over until I'm done with finals and papers. Just two more weeks and I'll have summer break. I still have to do an internship and do one summer class but I should have more time to write regardless. Also after the most recent episode of the new season this story now shifts away from some cannon concepts. I'll explain at the end of the chapter as to not give any spoilers. For now please read and enjoy.)
King was upset to say the least. He didn't want to stay in the van with a snoring Hooty. Instead he'd rather be running around looking for these 'scary' ghosts humans feared. Yet now Luz was putting him in the van to stay until Gaven left. Despite his struggling Luz was to powerful for the demon.
"Why do I have to hide?" King squealed.
"I already told you why," Luz hissed. "Gaven can't see you."
"I can be sneaky!" King protested.
"Oh sure you can," Luz said sarcastically. "Just like you were when trying to sneak off with Eda's snacks?"
"Hey that's not my fault!" King barked back. "I'm a master at the art of stealth, but she cheated using her owl senses."
Eda didn't just get a love for shiny objects when she was cursed, but also better hearing and sight. The more she had come to terms with the owl beast the more powerful she became. Now that the curse was gone Eda was starting to become a normal witch again, but having lived with the curse most of her life they doubted she'd ever really be fully cured. She still coughs up owl pellets from time to time.
"I don't have time to fight with you King," Luz said going into the van's storage and pulling out a blue cased electronic tablet. "Here this works a little like my phone just bigger."
"...can I watch videos of great warriors doing battle?" King asked becoming interested.
"If you mean those cat videos you love so much then yes." Luz giggled. "It's got child lock on so I don't need to worry about you learning something dumb like last time."
King started to tap away on the screen pulling up his first video. A happy look crossed his face and his tail began to beat up and down. Luz couldn't help but find it adorable. With the tablet she also had puffs to give the little demon. It was a type of soft baby food that many parents give to children.
"I got you snacks too so please stay here." Luz pleaded.
"For these offerings I will do as you ask." King nodded.
"Awww you're so cute." Luz said hugging the small demon who tried pushing her away.
"Hey I'm trying to watch something!" King squealed.
"Okay, okay," Luz said kissing his head. "Have fun ya little cutie."
Luz closed the van door and started to head back inside. Now that King and Hooty were hidden she didn't have to worry about them being found by Carlos' friend. Speaking of Gaven, Luz saw him head inside right before her. Once through the door she could hear Gaven start talking with the others.
"Alright," Gaven started. "Raise your hand if this is your first ghost hunt."
Everyone shot their hand up all except Luz. None of the witches needed to hunt for ghosts back in the Boiling Isles while Camila and Carlos hadn't really believed in them. They all looked at Luz however who nervously chuckled. Camila raised an eyebrow waiting for her daughter to say she was joking. Only Luz still left her hand down.
"Well," Luz said fidgeting with her thumbs. "This is my first 'official' ghost hunt with all the cool equipment."
"¿Por qué no estoy sorprendida?" Camila sighed while pinching her nose.
(Translation: Why am I not surprised?)
