(A/N: This chapter took me a while to write. I was really struggling to make these scenes feel right, and not forced or cringy. Well, they're probably cringy, but I'm I guy that likes that so whatever. If you're all enjoying the book so far let me know cause that tells me you want more. Chapter 6 might not be up until tomorrow, or the day after as my girlfriend wants me to spend some time with her, and then I have to get ready to move to college. So enjoy this chapter and feel free to tell me what you all think. Byeeeee!)
"So," Camila said as she washed the pan that she had dropped. "You have a girlfriend then, Carino?"
"Si Mama," Luz said as she helped everyone find a place to sit in the living room. "I was gonna tell you, but I wasn't sure if you could handle it considering everything we talked about."
"You tell us about magic, witches, demons, and some crazy Emporer you helped dethrone and that's what you think will send your Mama over the edge?" Carlos asked as he began preparing the vegetables needed for dinner.
"Did I really give off the impression that I'd disapprove?" Camila asked a little hurt her own daughter would think she'd be so cruel.
"Don't take it personally Camila," Carlos said while grabbing a knife to get to work on vegetable cutting. "It's just the way society has painted coming out to one's parents, not that they're wrong. Remember how my parents reacted when I brought home my first boyfriend?"
"I suppose you have a point," Camila said with a sad smile.
Everyone from the Boiling Isles looked at Luz a bit confused about what her family was discussing. Luz quickly explained that the human realm had issues related to who one is allowed to love. It wasn't like how back in the Boiling Isles two people could love one another regardless of their sex, or how they look. She also explained that it was a lot worse in other parts of the human world than where they were now. They were confused on why anyone should care so much about who a person loves, but Luz simply shook her head. There was no simple answer other than ignorance, and flawed logic.
"The Human Realm seems kind of depressing," Edric said while sitting on the arm of the loveseat he shared with Emira.
"It's not like that everywhere dear," Camila called out from the kitchen. "We're moving away from such thinking, but it takes time. There's also lots of beauty and mystery in the world. Try not to let the flaws of a few people define the entire human race."
"In a way, witches and demons aren't so different." Mr. Porter added. "Many of them see humans as inferior beings cause of their lack of magic. There will always be people that are wrong in their thinking kids, that's why it's so important for parents to raise their children to look past such notions."
"Couldn't have said it better myself," Camila said from the kitchen. "I have no issues with my daughter having such an amazing girlfriend."
Luz looked at Amity who was sitting next to her on the couch. She blushed at Camila's words and gave a small smile after noticing Luz watching her. Not being able to help herself Luz wrapped Amity up in her arms again not ever wanting to let go. It still didn't feel real to Luz yet that they were all here. Part of her mind kept thinking at any moment her alarm would go off and rob this precious moment from her.
"I'm glad you're all here," Luz said leaning her head on Amity's. "And here I thought you guys were starting to forget about me."
"How could we forget about you?" Willow asked.
"Well," Luz said playing with one of Amity's fingers. "Your letters weren't coming as often. The last one I got from Amity was three weeks ago so I thought..."
