Y/N POV
It has been months since I have won the Indy 500 and I was still ecstatic about that win. But there are more stuff that I need to focus like the Formula 2 Championship. I managed to carry my form from winning the Indy 500 into the Formula 2 races which has allowed me to take the lead of the Formula 2 Championship coming into the final race of this season in Abu Dhabi. It wasn't a big lead, only a 3 point gap to second place of Guanyu Zhou.
As I arrived at the paddock, I was facing immense pressure as there are rumours that I will be getting a drive in Formula 1 next season. I don't know which team but the rumours are suggesting that either Alfa Romeo or Williams. All eyes will be on me for this final race of the season, win this and I will be crowned Formula 2 World Champion. It doesn't really help when I know Teddy will be keeping an eye on my performance in this final race. Speaking of Teddy, I saw him talking to a few personnel from different Formula 1 teams, Williams and Aston Martin were in the mix, so I really need to perform at my best if I want that Formula 1 drive that Teddy is trying to get me.
The whole race weekend has been good for me, the car was feeling great in the corners and Abu Dhabi is a track that I really enjoy driving on. Qualifying on pole meant that I will be starting on pole position for the feature race. Sprint race 1 and 2 both went well for me and I managed to get on the podium for sprint race 1 despite starting in 10th. Lining up on the grid, I focused on the 5 red lights in front of me, desperate to get a good start. I only have one target for this race and that is finish first so I can win the Formula 2 World Championship.
As the lights went out, I managed to get away very well and because it was a short run heading into turn 1, I kept the lead and avoided all the chaos that happened behind. Composing myself, I managed to lead the whole distance of the race without any challenge from the other drivers. Managing the 2 second gap to the car behind, I was the first to cross the finish line. Exiting the final corner one last time, I took the chequered flag to win the Abu Dhabi Feature Race and most importantly the Formula 2 World Championship.
Alex Jacques: AND FOR THE FINAL TIME THIS SEASON, Y/N ROUNDS OFF THE FINAL CORNER TO TAKE THE CHEQUERED FLAG AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TAKE THE TITLE AS WELL. WE HAVE A NEW FORMULA 2 WORLD CHAMPION TODAY, Y/N.
I was going through a lot of emotions right now as I stood on the podium soaking this moment in. I can't believe that I am now a Formula 2 World Champion, hopefully this opens up some opportunity for me in Formula 1. I have done everything I can in this season and it's now all over to the Formula 1 teams to see if they want a driver of my calibre. After celebrating with my team, I was greeted by Teddy Park inside the HWA RaceLab garage with someone dressed in Aston Martin kit.
Teddy: Hey Y/N, well done. Congratulations on winning the championship. This is Andrew Green from Aston Martin F1 Team.
Andrew Green: Hi Y/N, I'm the technical director for Aston Martin Formula One Team.
Y/N: Nice to meet you Mister Green.
Andrew Green: We have just struck a sponsorship deal with THE BLACKLABEL and we have decided to put you into our second seat following the departure of Sebastian Vettel.
Y/N: Oh thanks for the offer Mister Green. Where do I sign?
Andrew Green: Here is the contract, sign on the dotted line and you can email it to me within this month.
Y/N: I'll sign it right now.
I quickly went over the contract, there was nothing weird on the contract so I signed it right away. I seriously couldn't believe how the tables have turned since the last time I was here in Abu Dhabi. The last time I was here in Abu Dhabi, I was testing for Haas F1 Team and getting the news that I will not be getting the drive with Haas F1 team. Fast forward one year later, I am a Formula 2 World Champion, an Indy 500 winner and also I have managed to secure a drive with Aston Martin Formula One Team. After signing the deal, I quickly posted on social media to show everyone of my friends and my family that I am now a Formula 1 driver.
Heading back to the hotel, I called my mother to give her the good news. This was probably one of the best days of my life, even better than when I won the Indy 500. Formula 1 was my ultimate dream and the place that I wanted to be ever since I started racing and today, I can proudly say that I have achieved my childhood goal of becoming a Formula 1 driver.
Mom: Hey, Y/N what's up?
Y/N: Mom, I did it. I f***ing did it.
Mom: Wow watch your language and yes I saw, congratulations on winning the Formula 2 title.
Y/N: No the other thing, I've signed a deal with Aston Martin Formula 1 Team.
Mom: Oh my god, I'm so proud of you Y/N. I knew you would do it one day. Congratulations, when you come back to Canada tomorrow I will cook you a big meal to celebrate.
Y/N: Thanks mom, I'm just calling to tell you that I made it. I'll see you at home tomorrow.
Because I have a flight to catch tomorrow, I went to bed early that night rejecting the celebrations at the Amber Lounge. While I might have achieved something in my racing career today, there are still a lot for me to achieve in this world or motorsport so I will save the celebrations for my next achievement. That night I went to bed with the winners trophy in my arms still living off the high of winning the Formula 2 World Championship.
Another chapter today, a little bit of a boring one in my opinion. But what will happen to Y/N after winning the Formula 2 World Champion? Continue reading to find out.
This book will now be updated on weekdays and I am trying my best to write at least one chapter a day. My other book will be updated on the weekends only because I really want to finish this book first.
Finally, thank you very much for all your support and please continue supporting on my work. Don't forget to vote for this book and share it to your friends who likes reading fanfics. Votes and reads really gives me motivation to continue writing and we are so close to 1000 reads now.
