Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Somi POV
For the past few months, I have been thinking about my situation with Y/N, and it was very complicated. I really miss talking to him and just seeing him in general. I feel very guilty about slamming the door in his face when he was trying to apologise. What kind of person am I? Why did I just slam the door at him? Everyone deserves a second chance and Y/N definitely deserves some forgiveness from me. I should have just accepted his apology when he showed up at my place, he was very sincere but I rejected his apology. I really want to see him again but I don't know if he wanted to see me. Maybe I should just go to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix secretly and watch him race from afar so he doesn't know I am there.
Y/N POV
Ever since the summer break and that incident with Somi at Seoul, I have somehow lost all my confidence and form. I was putting in terrible results only picking a few points over the second half of the season. It has gone to the point where the media started doubting my skills and talent, calling me a paid driver. This was heavily affecting my confidence which just caused my results to spiral downwards.
However, I have one chance to redeem myself, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Yas Marina Circuit is one of my favourite circuits and I always get a good result at this track with my Formula 2 win here last season. Also, I know this circuit on the back of my hand because I have been her many times before with tests sessions. Hopefully, I would get a good result here.
Qualifying was alright, I managed to get into Q3 which was not surprising at all given how good the Aston Martin car has been this season. Qualifying P7 wasn't that bad considering I have had worst qualifying sessions, but it wasn't too good since my teammate Lance Stroll managed to put his car into 4th position using the same machinery, all to do for the race then I guess.
Tim Wright: So it looks like it will be a one stopper, Plan A will be softs then hards with pit window between 7-14 laps. Plan B is softs then mediums with pit window between 18-22 laps. We'll monitor as see which one is faster.
Strapping myself into the car, I prepared for the five red lights for one final time this season. Even though I have confirmed my seat with Aston Martin F1 next season with the deal of THE BLACKLABEL, I still need to do my best to prove the critics wrong that I actually have talent and not just a paid driver. With fire and passion, I had the desire to at least get on the podium. I waited for the 5 red lights to go out and released the clutch......
David Croft: FOR ONE FINAL TIME, IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND IT'S AWAY WE GO. MAX VERSTAPPEN GETS AWAY WELL, SO DOES THE ASTON MARTIN IN 7TH LOOKS LIKE IT'S Y/N. AS THEY HEAD INTO TURN 1 Y/N GAINED 2 POSITIONS INTO 5TH HE GOES.
Getting away off the line really well, I managed to put my car into 5th position right behind my teammate Lance Stroll. I tried my best to follow and overtake him but our pace are very similar and with the dirty air I was getting from sector 3 I was not able to get close and make an overtake. I was always 0.8 or 0.9 seconds behind meaning I was close enough to get DRS but not close enough to make a move. With that, I thought about going to Plan B and extend the first stint and dropped back to 1.5 seconds behind Lance Stroll to conserve some tyres. With all the cars in front coming in for their first pit stop at around lap 12 for a set of hard tyres, I found myself leading the Grand Prix when the team asked me a very important question.
