Post Season Test Abu Dhabi, 2020
Y/N POV
It has been a few months since I last drove the Haas Formula 1 car. Since then, I had been signed on by Haas F1 team as a test and reserve driver and was seriously in contention for the 2021 Haas F1 seat. However, failing to win this year's Formula 2 Championship and losing the Championship to Mick Schumacher means that Mick Schumacher was able to secure the first Haas seat before I did.
After the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, I was invited to the Abu Dhabi Young Driver's Test 2020 by Haas F1 Team. Not caring about the seat and worrying about losing the seat that much I set my sights on performing my best for the upcoming test session.
I arrived at the Yas Marina Circuit along with my championship rival and friend Mick Schumacher prepared for the test. This is going to be my second ever Formula 1 test and my second time driving a Formula 1 car. It is going to be quite interesting because this will be my first time driving the 2020 spec Formula 1 cars which is going to be very different compared to the 2017 spec cars.
After the test, I was astonished by the speed of these Formula 1 cars. Because it was the end of the season, I was told by my engineer Dominic Haines that I could push in order to get the data needed. I was at strat mode 2 for a lot of laps which means full push, qualifying mode. Party mode as some would like to say. It was amazing how fast these Formula 1 cars could go. At the end of the day, I gathered a lot of data for Haas to develop their car for the next season. Before I left Abu Dhabi, Simone Resta caught me.
Simone Resta: Hey Y/N, good test today. We got a lot of data. Let's discuss our plans for next season now shall we?
Y/N: Sure
I followed Simone Resta into the Haas hospitality area. I was excited at the prospect to be included in the plans of Haas F1 Team for the upcoming season. I wonder if they are going to offer me a drive next season? I guess we will have to find out.
Simone Resta: Please take a seat.
Y/N: So Mister Resta, what are the plans for next season?
Simone Resta: Well, given our current state, we are looking for another driver for our second seat and you would be the perfect fit. But.....
Y/N: I'm ready for the seat and the challenge.
Simone Resta: Let me finish Y/N. But, with our financial state we need a driver who could provide sponsors to the team which is why we decided to give the second seat to Nikita Mazepin as a part of the deal we signed with Uralkali. Sorry Y/N, I hope you understand but you will be our test and reserve driver next season. So keep the good work up.
Y/N: Yeah, I totally understand. Thanks for telling me that. I'll see you around next season.
No, of course I don't understand. I drove my absolute best, got 2nd in my first season in Formula 2 and now I am dropped becasuse I can't provide enough sponsors to the team? This is utter bull crap. I can't take this, as I left my driver room I smashed my door. I was not happy.
Gunther Steiner: Who the f*** smashed the door. Do they know we don't have the strongest doors and we certainly can't afford a replacement.

Time Skip to back home
I went home still depressed. I was so pissed off during the flight back home that I can't sleep at all. Haas were my final hope of landing a drive next season. Carlin has already ruled me out because Dan Ticktum and Jehan Daruvala managed to pay for the seat before I did. All the Formula 1 seats are already taken so once again I found myself looking for a drive again.
Arriving home, I was in an extremely terrible mood. I need to find my mom to help me dig out of this situation again. I thought heading to Europe would mean that I am old and mature enough to solve my problems, but looks like I once again require my mom to help me land a drive for next season.
Y/N: Mom I'm home and I need your help.
Mom: What's up Y/N, do you want some rest?
Y/N: No, I didn't get the Haas F1 seat. Some stupid guy called Mazepin got the seat because he paid the team.
Mom: Awww, sorry Y/N, you tried at least.
Y/N: Can you please help me send out my CV to some other Formula 2 teams?
Mom: Y/N. I think me and your dad need to tell you something. Sit down.
Oh god, what is happening? Why does my mom want to tell me something? The atmosphere changed completely. I am very nervous because I don't know what is happening. My mom doesn't usually talk to me in a serious situation unless I am in trouble. I sat down on the dining table and my dad sat down as well.
Dad: Y/N, here's the thing. We paid so much for you racing career so far, but business has been a little bit on the down side. We were really hoping he would land a Formula 1 drive this season.
Y/N: Well I didn't because apparently Formula 1 is a sport where only rich kids get in. I guess I will have to stay in Formula 2 for another year.
Dad: Yeah, about that. We wanted to say, we can't afford another Formula 2 drive for you this year, it's just too expensive. So I guess you really need to take up the reserve driver role for Haas.
Y/N: WHAT? Why?
Mom: You heard your dad, financial issues. But we'll be behind your back. I trust in your talent and even you can't be in Formula 1, you could be in another category of motorsport.
Y/N: Well Haas certainly doesn't trust in it.
After that talk, I went into my room. Slammed my door and started crying. It was the second time I lost a drive because of some sponsor stuff. First it was the Prema Formula 3 drive because of Sofina Foods and now it's a Formula 1 drive because of Uralkali. I seriously get no luck at all, I guess my racing career is over then.
Mom: What should we do?
Dad: I think I'll make the call.
Who is Y/N's dad going to call? Continue reading to find out. Sorry if this chapter was a bit rushed, but it was supposed to be published yesterday. I couldn't publish it yesterday so I published it a day late.
