Y/N POV
I was very excited as I arrived at the Bahrain International Circuit. This will be my first time being in the new Aston Martin Formula 1 car and also it will be my first time seeing it. I have previously driven the car on the simulator but driving the real thing will definitely be a completely different experience. Before I could drive the car, I had to go through the annoying press conference and car reveal first.
I went into the room and there was a lot of press officers in the room waiting to ask questions. It was annoying because I hate press conferences and people asking me questions. However, this is the life of a Formula 1 driver and part of my job is to meet the press and answer their endless annoying questions. With Otmar Szafnauer arriving the venue, it was time to reveal the car to the world.
Otmar Szafnauer: Welcome everyone thank you for attending. We will be revealing our car today and our drivers Lance Stroll and Y/N will be answering some of your questions.
With that, me and Lance Stroll each took one side of the cloth that was covering the chassis and slowly took the cover off the chassis. It was my first time seeing the chassis and it was absolutely beautiful. The team has kept the traditional British Racing Green and with sponsoring from THE BLACKLABEL, their logo could be seen clearly on the side pod and the rear wing. The sponsoring and logos of THE BLACKLABEL being stuck on the chassis reminded me of Somi because without her and the support from THE BLACKLABEL, I wouldn't be standing here revealing the new Aston Martin AMR22 to the world.
After the fun part of the car reveal, it was time for the moment I have been dreaded. The press conference where the media will ask me questions that I don't want to answer. Thankfully David Croft started off with an easy question which made me feel a little bit more comfortable.
David Croft: So Y/N and Lance Stroll, what do you think about this car?
Lance Stroll: I mean not much has changed to the livery from last year but there's a say that you don't fix something that isn't broke so I guess this livery looks lit too.
David Croft: How about you Y/N, your thoughts?
Y/N: Yeah, the car looks really nice. Just hope it will be a fast one too.
The next few questions were for Otmar Szafnauer asking about how he thought the team are performing and what is his expectations from his perspective. Otmar Szafnauer suggested that we should be challenging for a third placed finish in the championship which was very optimistic from him and only puts extra pressure on my performances for my debut season in Formula 1. However, a few questions later, Paul Di Resta took over and decided to ask me a question with his stupid Scottish accent.
Paul Di Resta: So Y/N, it's your Formula 1 debut season. With Otmar saying he will be targetting a third placed finish in the championship does that put pressure on you, and what are your expectations do you have for yourself? Also, are there any people you would like to thank for your tough journey into Formula 1?
I really hate press conferences, why do I have to be here. Ugh, now I have to answer a question as well. It was also a very long question as well, I already lost track of what he tried to ask in that question. I think it was something about expectations which personally I don't really have any and I wanted to do my best in this season and learn as much as I can.
Y/N: I think what Otmar is targeting is pretty realistic and while it does put extra pressure on me it also raises my own expectations. Obviously it will be my first season in Formula 1 and there is a lot of things I still need to learn but I can't use that as an excuse. I will try my best and hopefully match the team's expectations.
Paul Di Resta: And are there anyone you would like to thank for being with you during this tough journey into Formula 1?
I thought about that question. Who was I thankful for for my tough journey into Formula 1. I mean I was really thankful for Aston Martin for giving me this opportunity, my parents for sticking with me even though I was out of a drive and helping me find a drive. Also, how could I forget about Somi and THE BLACKLABEL. Without Somi, I wouldn't even be sitting here answering these annoying questions. With that I told the press that I was thankful for the team, my parents and most importantly Somi for sticking with me obviously anonymising Somi's name to prevent creating some sort of dating scandal.
Somi POV
There was nothing to watch on the TV today so I was just switching channels trying to find something good to watch. Suddenly I came to KBSN Sports and it was showing some Formula 1 things as I looked closely, it was a news report about the Aston Martin Formula 1 team car launch and press conference and Y/N was on it so I decided to watch a little bit of the report. They were just talking about their expectations for the upcoming season until someone asked Y/N a question about who he wanted to thank for his journey towards Formula 1.
Paul Di Resta: And are there anyone you would like to thank for being with you during this tough journey into Formula 1?
Y/N: Well first of all, I like to thank my team for putting faith in me and giving me this opportunity to be here. Also, my parents for supporting me throughout this career no matter what. Finally I would like to thank someone very special, someone who have helped me a lot during my career and without her I wouldn't be sitting here today talking about my Formula 1 debut.
Is Y/N talking about me? He actually thanked me on public TV, that means I hold a special place in his heart. I mean, I did helped him a lot during his journey into Formula 1 but I never expected him to give me credit for it. Thankfully he did and it was a big relief from me because I thought after the month of preparation and not contacting me he would have forgotten about me. This really got my hopes up high that he will not break his two year promise. Now I am going to make sure I will watch all of his races in the future. Even though I am not a big Formula 1 fan and I don't know a lot bout motorsport, I will watch and learn this sport for Y/N. Hopefully I could visit him and watch one of his races live as well.
A bit of fluff in this chapter about Y/N thanking Somi's support for Y/N's tough journey into Formula 1. The Formula 1 season starts next chapter so to see how Y/N does in the Pre Season Testing be sure to continue reading this book.
I will try my best to update the next chapter later today given that I am already in the process of writing the next chapter. So stay tuned for that and if you don't wish to miss any updates do add this book to your library.
Finally thank you very much for you support over the past chapters, this book is nearing it's end so please continue to support this book until the final chapter. As always, remember to vote and share this chapter and I will see you guys in the next chapter.
