Hurting

The white ceiling is the first thing I saw as I slowly opened my eyes, but it's a bit blurry, parang umiikot. Medyo maingay din.

I groaned softly as I felt my head throbbing again. I closed my eyes. Ilang minutong naging ganon.

"...so there shouldn't be a problem, right?" the voice that I heard.

I slowly breathed then decided to open my eyes again. I looked at the white ceiling again, this time, medyo malinaw na.

I tilted my head to look at my left hand. May nakakabit roon. I carefully sat on the bed, a little bit weak.

At the corner of the room, near the door, naroon ang tingin ko'y doktor, si Ma'am Alicia at... Nova. I blinked to see if it is really him, hindi nga ako nagkamali.

They were talking seriously that they didn't even notice me.

"N-Nova..." I whispered while slowly breathing. Napahawak ulit ako sa aking ulo dahil pakiramdam ko, para 'yong pinupunit. What the hell is wrong with me?

"Railey!" boses 'yon ni Ma'am Alicia.

Narinig ko na lang ang mabilis na mga yapak patungo sa akin. Someone held my cheeks dahilan para dahan dahan akong mapamulat.

Namungay ang mga mata ko nang makita ng masinsinan si Nova. Punong puno ng pag-aalala ang mga mata niya. It's almost weird that after few months of being apart, he's in front of me right now.

"Baby, are you okay? May masakit ba sa'yo?" he whispered hoarsely. He was looking directly at my eyes as if talking to them kaya pagod akong ngumiti.

"Welcome back," I said softly, putting my hand above his on my cheek, ignoring his question.

I saw him clenched his jaw. "I'm asking you, baby... Are you feeling okay?"

Natitigan ko ng maayos ang mukha niya. He looks great for those weeks we've been away samantalang ako... I look awful. I should be the one looking great since I was the one who said to rest and fix myself pero ano ito ngayon?

Hindi ako nakapagsalita at pinakiramdaman ang sarili. "I'm feeling a little bit weird. I always passed out these past few days at... wala ring ganang kumain."

Mas nagtangis ang bagang niya sa narinig. "And you didn't tell me? I know we already talked about this, Railey, me not texting you. You don't know how much I hold back para hindi ka kontakin. But the moment you didn't feel well, sana sinabihan mo ako. You should've at least texted me. It would be a problem kung hindi ka pa nadala sa hospital. It could be too risky for you and for... our baby."

I froze. Wala akong naintindihan sa sinabi niya kundi ang huling dalawang salita.

Our baby. It keeps ringing on my mind, paulit-ulit.

"W-What?" kunot-noo kong tanong, lito pa rin.

He sighed in relief. Namungay ang mata niya habang pinaglalapat ang aming mga noo. "You're going to be a mother, baby."

I was in dazed. Parang lumukso ang puso ko. It was too overwhelming. Ibang iba sa pakiramdam, something like... a fulfillment. My heart raced as I reached my belly.

I'm pregnant. I have my baby inside my womb. I'm going to be a mother.

Paulit ulit ko 'yong inisip. I closed my eyes as it turn teary. No one can explain what I'm feeling right now. I was too speechless to even talk.
