All throughout class the next day, Sunghoon wondered what he said to make everyone in the group chat so uncomfortable. The question followed him when his class ended and he walked the halls towards the cafeteria. Before he could reach the double doors, a familiar figure stood in front of him, making him smile. "Can we talk?" Jake asked with a hesitant tone, making Sunghoon's smile falter. "Yeah what's up?"
"Those things you said in the group chat yesterday, they were jokes right?" Jake asked as the two boys began to walk towards an empty class room. Sunghoon's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "no."
"So if we started dating, which I feel like we eventually will, you wouldn't let me drink when you're not around?" Sunghoon was confused, "I mean we're high school students so we can't even-"
"That's not what I meant" Jake interrupted with a calm voice, he looked somewhat uncomfortable. "Okay let's say we're dating and Jungwon was throwing a party and I wanted to go but you couldn't go cause you had a big exam the next day, would you care if I went alone?"
The thought alone made Sunghoon uncomfortable, he thought for a moment before replying, "no, I'd feel really weird if the person I was dating went to a party alone." Jake's eyes widened, "really? Even if all my friends were there in case something happened?"
"I can't really be sure nothing happened unless you're right next to me"
"Really?" Jake's voice was filled with disbelief, "what are you so worried would happen?"
"I don't know, someone could hurt you or you might cheat"
Jake stepped back, looking almost offended, "I might cheat?" Sunghoon was confused again, why was Jake acting like this? "Well emotions run high and parties and there's no sure way of knowing nothing happened unless you're at your home or with me"
"And you... see nothing wrong with that mentality?"
"No?"
"Wow okay," Jake let out a sigh, his face looking troubled. Sunghoon felt the atmosphere getting dark. "Am I supposed to see something wrong with that?" Sunghoon was suddenly aware of the large space between them, and the way their usual comfortable atmosphere was now uncomfortable and awkward.
Jake was at a loss for words, his mind scrambled from what he was hearing. "Um," he began, his eyes everywhere but on the boy in front of him, "I don't really wanna talk to you right now." He said, turning to quickly leave the room without a word, shocking Sunghoon.
