"Hurry up Jungwon" Jake whispered, looking around the empty halls hoping no one would walk by and see how suspicious they looked. Jungwon on the other hand was slipping things into Niki's locker, trying to move quickly. "I'm hurrying" he replied frantically, and then the bell rang. The two quickly ran away, hiding behind the corner, giggling like two middle schoolers.Soon after, students began to flood the hallway. Jungwon and Jake nonchalantly began walking towards Niki's locker after they saw the aforementioned leave his class with his boyfriend with him. "Oh my God Sunoo is with him," Jungwon said with amusement while Jake shushed him, trying not to laugh.
"Hey dudes" Jake said when they met Niki and Sunoo at the boy's locker. The two stared back at him with weirded out looks. "What's your next class, bro?" Jungwon added, only making the other two more confused.
"Why do you guys sound so straight"
"Pfffft" they said together, forcibly laughing. "Straight? Haha not us," Jake said, suddenly becoming serious, "Just shut up and get ready for your class."
"We will be leaving now" Jake and Jungwon turned around and linked their arms, walking away together and hiding behind the corner once again. Niki sighed at the strangeness of his friends, wondering how he even ended up with them before he opened his locker.
Instantly, at least 20 rose petals fell from it, as well as a red envelope. Niki panicked, looking at boyfriend who just looked confused as he reached for the envelope. After reading it, Sunoo looked at Niki with anger, "who the hell is Yuqi?"
Niki's face instantly pales, he turned around and met eyes with the duo, who quickly hid behind the wall again trying to suppress their laughs (and failing miserably). Sunoo began to storm off, while Niki chased after him. "Wait! I swear it's nothing!" Sunoo ignored him, continuing to walk away as Niki desperately chased him, "She's a lesbian! She's dating Soyeon!"
The second the two were out of sight, Jungwon and Jake burst into laughter, tears coming out of their eyes. "That was so fun, it's been a while since we pranked Niki" Jake said between laughs, Jungwon observed the wide smile on Jake's face fondly, he missed that smile. "Well that was fun," Jake said after calming down, "now let's go to class."
"Wait," Jungwon said, stopping the other, "we have one more stop before class."
"Jungwon, no"
"Jungwon, yes"
"Jungwon, no" Jake said with a serious face, showing the other that he wasn't joking. Jungwon sighed, "come on, don't you want to get back at him? He really hurt you."
"That doesn't mean I should hurt him back."
They stared at each other in silence, before Jungwon sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder, "you don't have to do anything, it'll just be me. Besides, it's not really hurting him it's just a practical joke." Jake stayed quiet, but the silence was interrupted by the sound of the door opening. Jungwon grabbed Jake and quickly hid him behind the bleachers of the gym. Sunghoon walked in, followed by a girl as they walked towards the bench. The girl, who Jake recognized as Wonyoung from Niki's class, opened the water dispenser and examined the inner contents of it. "Sunghoon, there's still a lot of water in here, I don't think I can carry it."
"Oh, I got it" he replied, picking it up with little struggle and soon they were walking towards the exit. He then stopped, making Wonyoung also pause, "what's wrong?" Sunghoon put the water dispenser down, "I forgot my stuff, give me a second." He walked back to the bench, picking up his phone and sweater only for a huge spider to fly out of it. He screamed, backing up so quickly he slipped and fell, tipping over the water dispenser in the process and spilling the cold water all over him.
Jungwon and Jake accidentally let out a quiet laugh, feeling bad about the situation but also finding it kind of funny. "Sunghoon, are you okay?!" Wonyoung said loudly, running towards him and helping him stand up. "Let's get you dried," she said, wrapping him with his jacket and helping him leave the room.
"Thanks Jungwon, I know you were just trying to cheer me up but this was a bit far. You know he's really scared of spiders" Jake whispered. Jungwon pouted, "This wasn't even the prank I had planned." Jake rolled his eyes, "Okay maybe you didn't plan for him to get soaked, but why else would there be a fake spider there?" Jungwon shrugged, "I really don't know! I didn't put it there!" Jake looked towards the spider, noticing the way it twitched before standing up and walking.
He screamed, "OH MY GOD IT'S REAL, GO GO GO GO" He yelled at Jungwon, pushing the now also screaming boy so they could run out of the gym. Jungwon slipped over the water in the process, "HELP ME" he screamed, but Jake didn't look back, running away as fast as he could.
"You traitor" Jungwon said after finally exiting the gym. Jake pouted, "there was a spider" Jungwon rolled his eyes and walked away, mumbling the words "ungrateful brat." Jake laughed and followed him, wrapping his sweater around Jungwon's wet back.
Sunghoon walked back to the locker room, praying he forgot to take his gym clothes home the day before and that he could change into them. But as he walked towards his locker, he noticed a plastic bag sitting in front of it. Curious, he opened it and saw a fresh set of clothes, an umbrella, a convince store ice cream cup and a sticky note with the words "don't forget to dry your hair" written neatly on it. Sunghoon stared at the objects with confusion, but eventually went to change into the clothes, grateful to whomever left it there for him.
Sunghoon walked out of the school with the plastic bag in his hand, when it started to rain. "Are you kidding me" he muttered, annoyed with himself for forgetting to check the forecast. Then a lightbulb went off in his head, and he reached happily into the plastic bag to pull out the green umbrella. At first he thought his day had gone to complete shit, but someone managed to turn it around with just a plastic bag filled with convenience store goods. Nonetheless, he was grateful.
"JUNGWON" Jake screamed, running through the rain and under Jungwon's umbrella. The shorter boy stared at him, "I literally told you it was gonna rain today, where's your umbrella?" Jake pouted, "I forgot to bring it."
Jungwon smacked the back of his head, "idiot." Jake mumbled an 'ow' before Jungwon began to walk him home.
Jake was always grateful to Jungwon.
