8. blue cheese

"Soooo" Sunghoon said, breaking the silence. The tension was thick at their table, plates and soft murmuring could be heard around the fast food joint but Sunghoon and Jake seemed to be struggling to even look at each other. The only options they had were to have an awkward conversation or eat, so Jake had probably ate more pizza in that one day than he did in his entire lifetime. Jake looked up, dropping his pizza on the plate when Sunghoon spoke, "so." The table fell silent again, the two only staring around the room, sometimes glancing towards one another. Jake didn't care that he was full, he just needed to eat some more pizza.

"How's the pizza?" Sunghoon asked, making Jake glance down at his plate, where he was almost done more than half the pizza Sunghoon ordered for what was supposed to be 4 of them. Jake mentally slapped himself for eating so much. "Uh," he started, looking back up at Sunghoon who stared at him awkwardly, "it was good." Sunghoon nodded, and the table fell quiet again. The two only staring awkwardly at each other.

"What about this, pretend I'm Jungwon?" Sunghoon said, making Jake nod, "okay, just don't mention BTS" Sunghoon's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "why?" Jake shrugged, "because I will not hesitate." Sunghoon stared at him in confusion, "what does that even mean?" Jake then shook his head, "this is a bad idea." Sunghoon frowned, "it can't be that hard!"

"Can you imagine me as Jay?!" Jake exclaimed, making Sunghoon pause to imagine it, before shaking his head. "Okay, you're right, bad idea." Jake sighed, and soon the the table fell silent again.

"Stop staring at me like that," Jake said out of nowhere, feeling small under Sunghoon's gaze. Sunghoon flinched, immediately turning his head to stare at the table next to them. "Looking at you like what?" He asked, refusing to turn his head. "I-I don't know—like I'm blue cheese! Jungwon was supposed to be the cheddar and Heeseung was supposed to be the mozza and you didn't mind if the blue cheese came along because at least the cheddar and mozza are coming but the cheddar and mozza aren't coming so now you're stuck alone with the blue cheese!"

"I don't think you're blue cheese" Sunghoon said, turning to stare back at Jake with soft eyes.

"Really?"

"No way, you're definitely mozza, Heeseung is blue cheese"

Jake laughed, and Sunghoon softly smiled at the sight. "I'm more of a parmesan guy myself" Sunghoon added, which only made Jake laugh harder. The two continued talked about cheese—of all things, and then cheese led to foods, and food led to music, and soon they knew more about each other than they even cared to know.

"Blue cheese?" Jungwon said, staring at his friend in disgust, Niki was laughing uncontrollably, rolling around on Jungwon's bed as Jake blushed in embarrassment, "shut up."

"Blue fricking cheese" Jungwon said again, almost in disbelief. Jake groaned, laying down on Jungwon's bed, where Niki was still dying of laughter. "I hate you both" Jungwon chuckled, picking up his phone when he got a notification.

"GET OFF YOUR PHONES IM HAVING A CRISIS" Jake yelled, though it came out muffled as his head was buried into Jungwon's pillow. "Jungwon, do you like Jay?" Niki asked, making Jake jump up, "WHAT"

Jungwon panicked, "What? No! It was a joke, like relax child." Niki looked Jungwon up and down "mhm" he said, looking back at his phone as Jake looked between them in confusion. "Literally what am I missing"

"It's nothing Jakey, just talk your pretty little head off about your date." Niki said, patting Jake's head jokingly. Jake hit him with a pillow, "it wasn't a date" he mumbled, blushing slightly. Jungwon nodded, "okay it wasn't a date, but does he think that?"

Suddenly Jake's eyes widened, making both Jungwon and Niki burst into laughter. Jake pouted, finding his friends extremely unhelpful. "I hate you both." He said, but the two were too busy laughing to care.
