32. You're Park Sunghoon, right?

Jungwon walked into Jake's house, walking past the kitchen straight towards the living room when he noticed a certain brown haired boy sitting at the dining room table. Jake stared at a vase of red roses on the table with a goofy smile on his face, sighing occasionally. "You're disgusting" Jungwon said, snapping Jake out of his daze to look up at Jungwon with a glare, "whatever." Jungwon sighed heavily as he walked towards the couch where Niki was napping on Sunoo's lap, "well this is great, all my friends are in happy relationships."

"Technically, Jake and Sunghoon aren't dating" Sunoo mentioned, making Jake finally leave his seat on the dining table to join his friends in the kitchen. "We're not dating yet" Jake correct, casuing Jungwon to groan with impatience, "what's stopping you guys? You like each other, you've kissed, you've done everything except pop the question." Jake shrugged in response, hugging a pillow as he digested his friends' words, "To be honest, it hasn't really crossed my mind until now" his eyes suddenly widened, "is it bad that he hasn't asked yet?" Sunoo shook his head, "Don't worry, Jaeyun, I'm sure he's just nervous or maybe he's waiting for you to ask."

"Or maybe he hasn't thought of it yet either" Niki said groggily, getting up from his seat in Sunoo's lap and instead cuddling into the side of his boyfriend. Jungwon nodded, "that sounds like Sunghoon." Jungwon looked at Jake with curiosity, "what ended up happening when you went to his place?" Jake perked up happily, "Well he asked me to go with him to senior beach day and then we made out for like 10 mi-"

"PLEASE STOP"

"What's wrong with him?" Jay asked as he walked into Sunghoon's apartment with his Playstation controller. Sunghoon was laying face first on the floor, staring under the couch. Heeseung chuckled and shook his head, "I honestly have no idea." Sunghoon finally propped up on his elbows when Jay sat on the couch next to Heeseung, "I totally choked today. I had it all planned out and it was gonna be super romantic." The two boys looked at each other then at Sunghoon, "what are you on about?" Sunghoon sighed heavily and finally joined Heeseung and Jay on the couch. "All I've been thinking about since I kissed Jake is asking him to be my boyfriend. And I mean it when I say it's all I've been thinking about." The atmosphere became quiet as the two digested Sunghoon's revelation. "Well that's a big step," Jay finally said, "have you thought about how you want to do it?"

"I was planning on doing it today, at my house, but I completely blanked out and I only really managed to ask him to be my date to the beach day." Heeseung placed a supportive hand on Sunghoon's back, "don't beat yourself up about this, you've got loads of time to tell him how you feel." Jay got up to turn on Sunghoon's Playstation 5, "I think the beach is the perfect place to do it." Sunghoon's eyes brightened at this as Jay excitedly sat down to play FIFA, "that's actually a really good idea."

"We'll even help you plan it" Heeseung added with a smile, "as long as you make sure I stay away from all of the areas in this house that you and Jake make unholy." Sunghoon laughed, connecting his controller, "you might wanna move to another corner of the couch then." Heeseung screamed in disgust and moved towards Jay, who could only laugh.

"It's hot as balls" Sunoo said, fanning himself as he watched his friends unload the car they drove to the beach. "Sunoo isn't a fan of the heat" Niki whispered to Jake, passing him a volleyball. "I'm not a fan of being sweaty and sticky, thank you" Sunoo defended. It was a very long and uncomfortable car ride, in which everyone mostly slept. Except for Heeseung, who drove, and Sunoo, who had Niki's head on his shoulder the entire time. The driver over also proved to be uneventful apart from when Jungwon and Jay made loud gagging noises when they saw how Sunghoon and Jake fell asleep with their hands intertwined.

"That's why we swim, babe" Niki retaliated, and Sunoo could only blush at the unexpected pet name. "Whatever, I'm getting--"

"an iced tea?" Niki asked as he pulled out a can of iced tea from the cooler, handing it to his boyfriend. Sunoo smiled and kissed Niki's cheek as he walked off with Jay to find a place to set down their stuff. Niki sighed, "I'm literally the best boyfriend ever." Jake snorted at this, and quickly covered his mouth after he realized the sound he made as Jungwon laughed at his idiotic friends. Sunghoon smiled, watching Jake walk off as he walked with Heeseung, "he's adorable." Heeseung rolled his eyes at this, "he literally snorted."

"It was adorable"

"Whatever, are you ready to leave this place with a boyfriend" Heeseung said with a teasing smile, causing all of Sunghoon's nerves to resurface. "I'm so worried something will go wrong. Like if something catches on fire or like sand gets in my eye and it starts twitching or something. You know how distracting eye twitches are? Totally ruins the moment. And oh my God, what if he says no? I don't think I could handle-"

"Sunghoon, relax" Heeseung said, "if you don't think that boy likes you after everything, you're severely stupid." Sunghoon sighed, "I know, I just worry. He's so perfect, I'm such a mess. What if he realizes that and-"

"Ah ah ah, no negative thoughts, today is gonna be fun. We're gonna play lots of volleyball and swim and then you'll ask him out and everything will go great." Sunghoon smiled weakly at his friend, then looked back in front of him where he saw Jake laughing at something Jay said. He nodded, "no negative thoughts; everything will go great." Heeseung smiled at Sunghoon before he jogged over to the rest of the group, leaving Sunghoon to walk by himself.

"Hey," Sunghoon heard from behind him, causing him to turn around. A tall guy with blue hair stood there, smiling at Sunghoon, "you're Park Sunghoon right?" Sunghoon looked at the guy with confusion, "how do you know me?" The guy chuckled, "don't look so scared, you have a bit of a reputation for being popular, that's all." Sunghoon relaxed, "I guess so." The two finally shook hands, and Sunghoon felt something off about the guy, his grip seemed a little too hard and his smile seemed a little too pointed. "I go to school a couple blocks from yours, I came here with my school as well. I'm an old friend of Sim Jaeyun's, he goes to your school."

Sunghoon nodded, "I didn't realize multiple schools do beach day together. How do you know Jake?" The guy laughed awkwardly, "actually, we used to go out." Sunghoon suddenly noticed how much taller the boy was. He was really good looking, he noticed, his hair colour suited him well and he had this confidence Sunghoon lacked, it showed in the way he smiled and walked. "How do you know him?" the guy asked, snapping Sunghoon back to reality. "Oh, I'm his..." Sunghoon paused, feeling himself become even smaller than he felt before, "...friend." The boy smiled, "well it was nice to meet you, Sunghoon." Sunghoon awkwardly smiled back, "you too." The boy made a move to walk away until Sunghoon stopped him, "I didn't catch your name..?" He laughed, "oh of course, where are my manners? I'm Mingi. Song Mingi."

The boy finally walked away and as intimidated as Sunghoon felt, he was determined to make sure the day went perfect. No negative thoughts; everything will go great he thought, and finally walked towards his friends.
