24.5. this is so fucking cheesy

"I am genuinely so sorry I dragged you into my friend group" Niki said with seriousness after him and his boyfriend left Jungwon's house. Sunoo laughed, his eyes scrunching up cutely, "don't be, they're honestly so fun, who else am I gonna make fun of you with?" He replied, making Niki groan at the thought of his two idiot friends ruining his Sunoo's pure soul.

One quick taxi ride later and the duo were walking towards a building. "Is this a restaurant?" Sunoo asked, slightly confused, "I thought we were going to your house?" Niki laughed dryly, "We could go to my house later, I thought this would be a nice first stop." Sunoo nodded hesitantly, but walked into the semi-fancy restaurant with Niki and they were soon seated.

Sunoo's eyes bulged at the sight of the prices on the menu, "where did you get the money for a place like this?" Sunoo asked, "are you secretly rich? Did I hit boyfriend jackpot?" Niki laughed, shaking his head, "embarrassingly enough I got a job the other day." Sunoo looked shocked, "you did? Where?" Niki shrugged, "making pizza at Chuck E' Cheese" Sunoo gasped, "why didn't you tell me? I love Chuck E' Cheese! Oh my God, do you get to wear the suit?"

"I mean, I switched shifts with a guy once and I had to wear the suit."

"Really? Was it magical?" Sunoo asked, stars in his eyes. Niki laughed at his boyfriend's cute expression, "it was more like hot and sweaty, and it smelled like cheese."

"What? My childhood is ruined" Sunoo said, obviously disappointed, Niki laughed and the two made light conversation as they ate.

"Your place next?" Sunoo asked as the duo left the restaurant, hand in hand. Niki shook his head, making Sunoo curious. "I thought you said you just wanted to chill at home" he said. "You heard what the others said," Niki replied, "our first date should be special." Sunoo frowned, "but they weren't serious." Niki smiled, "still, I want to do this, come on." Sunoo was going to say something else, but decided against it, only following his boyfriend closely.

"This is so fucking cheesy I might actually die" Sunoo said as they arrived to their next location, but the smile on his face showed that he was happy with what he saw. A small row boat sat in front of them in a small lake, a man stood next to it who was probably just there to help out. Niki smiled in relief when he realized that Sunoo liked it. "Let's go in then," he said, and the duo happily got into the row boat and slowly began to row. Within seconds, the boat was completely off course, the man on the deck looking at them angrily as they laughed and tried to row away from the land and get back in the square they were supposed to stay in.

"Okay stop moving and I'll row to turn us" Sunoo said, so Niki stopped rowing and held the paddle as Sunoo desperately tried to turn their boat around with whatever strength he could muster up. "Let me help" Niki said, crawling towards his boyfriend. The movement was probably too sudden because the boat shook, and Niki's paddle slipped out of his hands and into the water. The duo stared at each other for a second before bursting into laughter, stuck in the middle of a lake.

Eventually the man at the deck got annoyed and brought in a bigger boat to take them back to shore, much to the relief of the couple. The laughed about the situation as they left the lake.

"So I really wanted to try this frozen yogurt p-"

"Niki," Sunoo cut him off, making the younger look at him in question, "do you think we can just go to your place?" He asked. Niki stared at him, hesitating before he finally nodded and the duo had a quiet taxi ride to Niki's single dorm.

Niki unlocked the door to reveal his small, comfortable flat. Sunoo sighed in relief as  jumping onto the couch after taking off his shoes and coat. Niki slowly sat on the couch, looking puzzled. "I thought," Niki began, but paused as he thought of what to say next, "I thought you liked things like fancy dinners and romantic dates?" Sunoo stared at him, almost blankly, not sure how to respond. Finally, Sunoo sat up on the couch beside Niki, smiling at him.

"I could tell you were really tired today, but you were trying to have fun for my sake. Yes, I'm very grateful you thought of me, but it would honestly be uncomfortable for me if I was the only one having fun. I want you to enjoy yourself too, and if you enjoy yourself more within your own four walls, then that's what I want too"

Niki stared at Sunoo for a moment, who was still smiling at him. Niki realized at that moment how much comfort Sunoo provided him, how he made things that seemed to complicated, so much more simple. For someone who overthinks, such as himself, Niki needed a Sunoo. No, not a Sunoo, this Sunoo, his Sunoo. And before he realized it, he leaned in and kissed his boyfriend, who happily responded to the surprise kiss.

"Thanks," Niki said shyly when they pulled away, which Sunoo must have found adorable because he smiled widely and squished Niki's cheeks, who pushed him away in embarrassment. Sunoo wasn't fazed by the push because he quickly pulled Niki back to hug him tightly.

Niki knew he was falling hard, but he wasn't mad about it.
