CHAPTER 4 - Friend or Foe?

The boy wakes up from the explosion confused, wondering what the hell just happened. He looks around and finds out that the whole area is gone. The rubble falling from the destroyed side of the lab. The boy thinks, How the hell did he do that?! Is that why those goons wanted him? Where'd he even go? He says as he walks into where Tenbris was held captive. He's gone, the boy thinks to himself. He probably ran into the woods nearby. That's when he realized the device on his neck was broken! He could finally escape.

    He stands there for a while in shock and says, "Ok, time to put these wings to good use!" The boy flew away, but his wings were caught by the explosion, "Damn, I gotta run or I won't make it." He lands into the thick woods, looks tensely at the lab for a while then starts running as fast as he possibly can. "Huff puff" the boy ran so far that the lab was nowhere in sight.

"Ok, good I just need to find a place to rest my feet and catch my breath for a little while." He stumbles upon a clearance in the middle of the woods and spots a huge lake that reflects the moon on its surface. The boy gazed at the scenery's beauty for a bit. Suddenly he spots a figure. He hides behind a tree and observes from a distance. The figure seems to be- wait is he controlling the water? The boy thinks "Is he one of us? Did he escape? How is he doing that? I need to be careful."

    The boy flies straight towards the figure, pinning it down. "Identify yourself! Who are you? How are you moving the water on your own will?!" The figure who seems to be a teenage boy says "let me go!" Who are you?!" "You aren't one of the experiments?"

     "What are you talking about? Are you trying to steal something from me, cause I haven't got anything of value?"

"What's your name?" The winged boy asks while letting the figure go. "I'm Nasa what's your- WHAT THE HELL?! Are...are those wings?!"

    "Yeah, long story, my name is Mach by the way." The boy who appears to be called Nasa says "O-oh hello Mach, mind explaining how you got literal wings grown behind your back?!" Mach then replies "Mind explaining how you could move the water earlier?" Both of them seem to be confused and curious about each other. Nasa then says "Well you see, I-" But before he could finish a huge monster appears out of the woods running towards them. Mach quickly says "Run!"

Without question, the boys run into the forest while the monster follows. Mach and Nasa run for their dear lives while the outrageous roars of the beast echo in their ears. Nasa shouts out, "We're gonna die. We're so gonna die!" To which Mach replies "Pull yourself together! Run, don't look back!" The boys keep running till the roars stop. "Is it over?" Nasa says, trying to catch his breath. Mach says "I think so, we're safe for now."

"What the hell is that. I mean that slender thing had long arms and a giant hand, one arm had a horrendous-looking baby monster face covered with blood! I mean gore in movies is fine, but this is just- "

But soon they hear rustling in the woods. Sounds like something is marching their way. Mach stands in front of Nasa with his wings spread out. Both boys are tired and don't have the stamina to run much further, breathing heavily as they are trying to still catch their breaths from the last sprint. They either have to fight whatever is coming or scare it away in order to survive

"Oh shit it's back, we're so dead!" Says Nasa quietly under his breath while Mach stands silently in a defensive position for whatever it is to show up.
