4 years later (Present)

"I still don't understand why we have to go back, it's been four years, I thought we moved on from that place," Ivy said while rolling her eyes as she got into the car.

"Ivy, I've told you, it's a business thing, I'm looking to expand my shop and I know for a fact Outer Banks is the perfect place, just look on the bright side you will get to see your friends again."

That was the exact opposite to the bright side. Four years away from OBX and not a word from no one. The last place Ivy wanted to be was in outer banks, a place filled with people she used to believe were her friends. It was currently her winter holidays in Australia, she should be with her friends huddled up inside watching movies together. But no she was dragged into a holiday she didn't want to be on.

"Fine, but we aren't staying in our old house, are we? Talk about a wreck" The girl knew she was digging herself a hole, but she was hopeful that if she dug one so deep she'd bury herself.

"Ivy stop, that was our home and you loved it. But no we aren't staying there, now no more complaining or this trip won't be good for anyone"

Ivy gave up, she knew there was no way out of going. Even if she jumped out of the car right now her mum will still find a way to drag her there.

Ivy Hutton was no longer the guitar-loving, goofy surfer girl that once lived in the outer banks. No, she was much different now.

Ivy loved reading and painting, she was focused on school and her future. She stilled loved the beach just didn't surf as much. In fact, the days she spent at the beach were the only times she felt like herself.

Ivy became more had become mature and wasn't as childish. She had cut her long brown hair into more of a chest-length, she'd also grown into her body nicely. She went for a run every morning. At first, it was a pain but once she saw results she kept at it, resulting in her being very fit.

If she ran into anyone she used to know they definitely wouldn't recognize her and she was perfectly fine with that.

"What'll you do if you see... Him"

Really, Monica, you had to ask.

Ivy ignored her question. Mostly because she didn't know how to answer it. If Ivy saw... Him, she'd simply ignore him, not like he cared that much about her anyways. The two haven't spoken in four years too late to start now.

"Fine don't answer me then" Monica huffed at Ivy. "you know it'll happen though, it's a small island"

"Can you just shut up Monica, I don't wanna talk about it, I'm not gonna see him ok" The girl hadn't meant to come off harsh she was just fed up. She hadn't spoken about JJ in years and she wasn't going to know just because there was a possibility they would reunite.

"Sorry, it's just, you know I don't like to talk about it" Monica gave Ivy a sincere nod and dropped the topic.

Monica didn't mean to rile her sister up or anything she was just concerned. Monica had begun to realise that after Ivy had spent too much time away from JJ, she began to change. Ivy had stopped making jokes and become more sarcastic and snappy, She'd had lost interest in a lot of her favorite things and spent little time outside and when he did she wouldn't come home for hours. Ivy's once perfect smile had disappeared, you barely saw it anymore. Her parents thought it was because they had left the island but Monica knew it was because of JJ, he was her best friend and she'd lost him. Monica felt helpless all these years watching her sister spiral into a cold-hearted bitch.
