Running out onto the wet grass on the field, Joyce rushes to a frozen Will, shaking him and begging him to wake up. Ethan's bare feet felt like they were freezing on the grass, but the fresh afternoon air was the only calming effect of the scene. Will was shaking like he was in the middle of a seizure but he was somehow still standing, staring back at the sky but his eyes were moving frantically under closed eyelids.
Ethan stood wide-eyed beside Lucas, while Max, Dustin, and Mike were on the other side of him. Joyce stood there screaming for her son to wake up as he gasped, opening his eyes and falling into his mother's embrace.
Joyce leads him away from the school, probably to either take him home, or to the lab. Surprisingly, Joyce didn't even realize Ethan was there, she noticed him, but acted as if he never left. Probably in shock, concerned with the safety of her son.
The group watched as Joyce led him through the school to their car, speeding off away from the property as they muttered indistinctly. As the Byers duo leaves, the group drags the shivering Ethan back inside, sitting him down at the table in the AV room.
"Okay, who is this again?" Max asks completely confused.
"This is Ethan. He went missing the same day Will was found," Mike explains, "But now he's back, with his... siblings?" Mike finishes, not able to find the correct word for the two unknown kids Ethan came with.
"Yeah, sure, siblings," Ethan replies, resting his hands on his cheeks as he sits at the table bored.
"Okay well.. I need to go, my brother's just gonna ditch me otherwise, so see you guys. Nice meeting you, Ethan." The sassy redhead announces, leaving the classroom.
Ethan nods to her.
Lucas and Dustin wave as she leaves, while Mike pulls out a chair to sit down across from Ethan. Jaeden and Hallow sit on top of the desk and sit against the wall on the right side of the room, watching their friend speak to his own, normal friends.
"Who are they?" Mike asks, pointing towards Hallow and Jaeden.
"Hallow and Jaeden, other lab kids. They're the last of them, after the massacre and number of escapes." Ethan scoffs, thinking of Brenner.
"Oh... oh" Mike says, taking in the information he knew he'd never completely understand.
"So like, can we call my mom or something?" Ethan asks.
"Yeah, yeah!" Dustin says, running out of the room to supposedly to call Nicole.
Lucas, Mike and Ethan sit silently, awkwardly. Awkward silence was filled with tapping fingers on wood and picking at fingernails until Dustin ran into the room again.
"Your mom's on her way, I didn't say you're here for obvious reasons, but she's coming!" Dustin says, panting and out of breath.
"So.. with Will's episodes. Two or three so far right?" Ethan asks.
