viii ; The Mind Flayer

Mike quickly explains everything that happened in the past five or so minutes while Ethan was exploring his brain scape. The contained Demogorgons had escaped, and the spy inside Will was pulling through and spying on them. Ethan then explained he was inside his own head, and he basically met his mother and got to know his past a bit more. He didn't know whether to actually trust it or not, which made him start to spiral a bit as Mike convinced him it was probably, maybe, real.

Meanwhile, Owens, Hopper, Bob, and Joyce had to figure a way out of the building, since the lockdown automatically locked all the exit doors in the building. That may be a health and safety hazard, but when your containing monsters such as these its probably a good idea. Someone had to go down to reset the breakers in the basement. The power would come back on, then they'd have to use some confusing computer language to open the doors, run up three sets of stairs, and catch up with the rest of the group. As demogorgons are hunting them down.

Hopper was almost at the door before Bob stopped him, proving he wouldn't be able to use the computer whatsoever, and he was the only one that could. He'd have to override the security codes with a manual input, which Hopper couldn't do because he didn't know BASIC. Mike and Ethan both knew what BASIC was, but they wouldn't even be able to get back up without getting killed, they weren't the quietest or wealthiest bunch. Owens couldn't do it either, leaving Bob to have to go down to the basement and save their asses.

"I got this" Bob whispers

"No. Bob" Joyce walks to Bob, pulling him in for a hug as he reassures her he'll be okay.

"It's gonna be okay. Remember, Bob Newby, superhero."

Joyce chuckles lightly as he and Hopper leave the room, going to grab a gun and walkie talkies from the dead security guards.

Ethan and Mike stand next to the slumped over Will, who was placed in a chair like the ones the boys were sitting in down the hall. After a minute or so, Hopper came back with a whole ass rifle, as he leaned it against the door he quietly locked. Owens and Bob walked through the steps of resetting the breakers and unlocking the front doors carefully over the walkie talkies while Mike and Ethan had no choice but to just watch the many screens intently.

The doors were successfully opened, Bob started to quickly make his way back up the stairs. While the adults lured away some interdimensional monsters, Mike and Ethan both mentally prepared themselves to see many, many dead bodies ahead of them outside.

The group successfully slinked out the door as Hopper lead them, rifle in hand and Will resting on his shoulder. Looking around, Ethan wasn't that disturbed, he felt like he had seen worse. Mike on the other hand was holding a hand at his mouth, disgusted and horrified. Some of the people's guts were just hanging out as Mike heald back the vomit running up his throat.

They made it to the front door, where they were waiting for Bob's arrival. When he came, he was panting as he slammed the door behind him, the demogorgon that was chasing after him screeched as it pounded on the door. Mike, Ethan, and Hopper with Will still on his shoulder sit outside as Joyce and Bob reunite, trying to help Hopper get Will into a more comfy position. Mike and Ethan just took him into their arms, carrying him bridal style as Hopper rubbed his shoulder, grunting because he probably got a cramp or something.

Just as they thought they were safe, they could hear Joyce's frightened screams as they also heard Bob plummet to the ground, yelling, and a demogorgon screeching. The younger boys sit Will down against the concrete wall next to them, Hopper grabbing the rifle as they slammed the door open, being greeted with a petrified Joyce, and Bob with a demogorgon trying to tear him apart.

One claw into Bob's side penetrated his skin as he screamed in pain, Joyce continued screaming as Hopper quickly tried shooting the monster as Mike and Ethan tried to think of something to do. Mike looked to the young boy next to him, nodding frantically.
