The Best Year

Chapter 10

"What is it" I asked.

"Luke escaped yesterday after you left" he said while looking at Ben.

"How did this happen" I asked.

"We don't know but you shouldn't be worried, we are going to keep an eye on you two and make sure he doesn't come back" he said.

"What will you do when you find him" Ben asked.

"He will come back and serve a long time in jail" the officer said.

After that we left and went to Ben's house and ate dinner. We watched movies and I stayed the night because Luke was on the loose.

The doorbell rang so I got up and answered the door.

"Hello" I said while opening the door.

"Hi" the man said with a hood on so I couldn't see his face.

"Who are you" I ask before letting him in.

He pulled down his hood and I gasped while backing up.

"I'm not going to hurt you" Luke said while moving closer to me.

"Get out" Ben yells after getting up and walking over to us.

"I'm sorry for what I did, please forgive me" he said with a tear running down his face.

As he started to leave the cops show up.

"Put your hands on your head and get on the ground" the cops yell while holding a gun.

Luke does what he is told and gets put in the cop car.

"We got him don't worry" the same officer who called me said.

"Thank you officer" I said.

We walked back to Ben's house and just sat on the couch trying to take in what just happened.

"How did the cops know he was here" I asked Ben.

"I called them" he said while avoiding eye contact.

"What's wrong" I ask him.

"I just don't think he should be in jail, he was just fight for the most perfect girl in the world" he said while reaching for my hand.

"I have to agree" I said.

"Let's not press charges" Ben said while reaching for his phone to call the police station.

He called and I could hear the police officer argue on the other end. I started to laugh then Ben hung up the phone.

"They are letting him out next Monday" he said while putting his feet up on the table.

"Good we should go to sleep" I said while snuggling into his side.

"Good night, I love you" he said while kissing my forehead.

"Love you too" I said while drifting off to sleep.
