Jisoo showered and dressed in a sweatpants and a track suit top. Brushing her hair, she looked out the window but couldn't see much. The rain was obscuring everything and she just hoped tha Lisa was okay. She wished she could just speak to her, to hear that she is safe and to tell her not to try and do something stupid. She put her hairbrush down on the bedside table and checked her phone again although she knew it was no use.
She found Jungkoook sitting on the couch, staring out the window. The fire was crackling in the fireplace and even though the cabin had an open-plan design, it still had a cosy feel.
Jungkoook looked at her and gave her a warm smile, "All warm and comfy?"
"Yes, thank you." Jisoo sat down on the couch opposite to Jungkoook. Her long, wet hair was hanging over her one shoulder. She pulled up her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. "Thanks for the fire." She said, staring st it. "There's always something so inviting about a fire."
Jungkoook didn't take his eyes off Jisoo, "Yes there is."
Jisoo could feel Jungkoook's eye on her. Strangely enough, it didn't make her uncomfortable at all. She closed her eyes for a moment and imagined what it would be like, sitting next to him, his arms around her.. and her stomach did a somersault. She opened her eyes and looked at him and for a split second their eyes met.
She quickly jumped up and said, "Would you like some coffee?" And walked to the kitchen without waiting for an answer. She had to stop doing this! She had to get him out of her mind! If the rain would just stop, then he would be able to leave!
Amused Jungkoook watched Jisoo as she walked to the kitchen. How long was she going to fight this thing between them? He felt like grabbing her and kissing her and to get it over with. Without thinking twice, he got up and walked towards her. She had her back towards him, pouring water into the kettle and he was about two steps away from her when the radio broke through the sound of the continuous rain, "Hello, hello. Can anybody hear me?"
Jisoo turned around and looked at Jungkoook. For a moment they stood frozen, and then frantically started looking where the sound was coming from.
"Hello, can anyone hear me?" The voice spoke again, "The river has flooded, you need to stay at the cabin." They found the radio on the mantelpiece behind a framed picture.
Jungkoook picked up the radio and answered, "Hello, we can hear you."
Jisoo was standing next to him, without thinking twice he took her hand and held it tight. The voice spoke again, "This is Hyun-suk speaking, I'm repeating, the river has flooded and the bridge is down. As long as you stay at the cabin, you'll be safe. I will keep you informed about the water levels every morning. Please keep the radio charged at all times."
Jungkoook looked at Jisoo, he knew the only thing she wanted to know and asked, "Hyun-suk, will you be able to get hold of someone else? Our friend left early this morning and we just want to know if she made it to town safely. It's the lady that booked the cabin with you, Lisa." For a moment there was only static. Jisoo held Jungkoook's hand with both of hers, squeezing it tight and breathing deeply.
After what felt like forever, Hyun-suk's vice came over the radio again, "Lisa is safe. She spoke to Suhyun and has been informed about the flooding."
Relief washed over Jisoo. She let go of Jungkoook's hand and took a couple of steps, running her fingers through her hair. Sighing she said, "Thank goodness."
"Thank you, Hyun-suk." Jungkoook said, "we will await your update tomorrow morning." They said goodbye and Jungkoook set the radio back on the mantelpiece.
"Flooding! I didn't expect that. At least now we know what's going on, and we know Lisa is okay." Jisoo was talking to herself, pacing up and down. All that was going through her mind was that now she was trapped with this man for don't know how long. She had hope to hold back her feelings for a couple of hours, but now they are talking about days, maybe even weeks! She walked to the kitchen, took mugs out of the cupboard and started making coffee with cold water without realising it.
Jungkoook stood in thought for a moment. It was terrible about the flooding, but the only words that was repeating in his head was 'If she is the one You choose for me, do not let us part ways tomorrow'. He looked at Jisoo and slowly walked towards her and switched on the kettle, "Go sit down, I'll make the coffee."
Jisoo looked at Jungkoook and then at the cups, "Oh my, sorry, didn't notice what I was doing. Just so shocked about the flood, didn't realise it was that bad." Jisoo tried to hide what was really going through her head and went to sit at the kitchen table.
"Yes, I'm quite shocked myself. But as Hyun-suk said, as long as we stay at the cabin, we'll be safe" He finished making the coffee and handed Jisoo hers and sat down at the table as well.
"Seems like whatever our plans were twenty-four hours ago, we are stuck with each other for the next couple of days." Jisoo tried to keep her tone light but inside her heart was beating so fast she thought Jungkoook might hear it.
"We'll just have to make the best of it," Jungkoook replied with the utmost intend to make the best of it.
